    3. Greetings Marilyn, My Lindsays came from Sampson and Wayne Counties of North Carolina. I am trying to expand my knowledge of the Vann paternal ancestry for my great great grandmother, Elizabeth (Dizy) Vann (b. 1811, d. ? ), who was married to Thomas Lindsay ( b. ca 1810, d. 1839 Sampson Co, NC ). They were the parents of three children, Caroline, John Devane and Mary. Upon the early death of Thomas Lindsay in 1839, Elizabeth married Caswell J. Bryant (b. 1826). My paternal lineage is ... 1.. Thomas Lindsay 2.. John Devane Lindsay 3.. Algia Arcastus Lindsay 4.. Addest Lutrell Lindsay 5.. Ron Lindsay Could you help me with the Vann or Lindsay surnames? The Vanns appear on quite a few records with our Wilsons in Sampson. I also notice your name is Lindsay. Were your Lindays from around Sampson Co? 3. I did a little looking at the Lindsays with out finding out too much. Wilsons, Lindsays and Vanns seem to have been in the same area up near the Wayne Co border. I don't have the info for Sampson Co on this computer, but will later look to see what I have that might help you. I have always wondered if the same Lindsays were the name source of Lindsay Kavender Tinkle whose daughter married Shadrach "Shade" Wilson in Gibson Co TN after the civil war. Shade Wilson was the last generation of our branch to be born in Sampson Co., son of James and Elizabeth Ward Wilson who took their family to Gibson TN in ca 1838. Did your Lindsays spent time in middle TN? 3. Greetings Lynn, Over the past three years, the Lindsay Surname DNA Project has turned up indisputable biological branches of my Lindsays in Nash County, North Carolina (not a surprise), Carroll County, Virginia, Maryland and Mississippi. We are still trying to establish the most recent common ancestor (MRCA) for these various Lindsay/Lindsey lineages. At this point, I have no knowledge of any of my Lindsays ever living in Tennessee, however it remains to be seen if any of my Lindsays ever lived there. I would appreciate any additional information that you might have on the Lindsays or Vanns in your database. I graduated from high school in Mount Olive (Wayne County), NC with two Wilsons. Cheers.
