I visited the NCGenWeb page and did not find anything on the NOrth Carolina Militia for Sampson County. My ancestor James W. Oates was in Colonel John Armstrong's Militia. Where can I find the roster. And battles he fought in. He received 3 pay vouchers from the Willimington District. This same militia also cleaned up the corruption in Sampson County.
