    2. Charles, I have that, William S. Gregory was the son of Elijah Gregory and Susan Duncan and Elijah was the son of Lott Gregory and wife Nancy? Lott and Nancy Gregory were also the parents of my Owen Gregory and Mary Polly Gavin who were the parents of my G.G.Grandmother Molsey Gregory who married William Fryar. So your William S. Gregory would have been my 1st. cousin 4 times removed. I don't have Rebecca Eliza Gregory in my file, how does she fit into the family? Will be happy to share my Gregory info with you. 3. Hi, Jan, The Gavins are an interesting family. Both the Gavins and Fulghums were railroad people. The 1830 and 1840 censuses below are my notes matching males and females with known family members. The early censuses of course did not have names of family members. Betty Old 1970's note from Lathan Wiggins says: Margaret Gavin's father was superintendent of water stations for railroad. The 1850 Duplin Co, NC, census says Lewis Gavin age 52, Supt Water Station, R.R., born in Sampson County. By 1850, Margaret Gavin was out of the family home and married to William Washington Fulghum with 4 children. 1830 Census, Duplin Co, NC: (Gavin, Lewis, b. 1798) Male 30-39, Lewis Gavin, HOH, born 1798 Male 10-14, son Samuel J. Gaven, age 21 NOTE from Gencircles: At a General Assembly held at New Bern, presently Craven Co, NC, March 17, 1749, under gov. Gabriel Johnston, an act was passed for erecting the upper part of New Hanover County into Duplin County and parish and for appointing a place for building a courthouse, prison, and stock for the new county. Charles Gavin believed to be the grandfather of Lewis R. Gavin was appointed vestryman of St. Gabriel's Parish. Charles believed to be son, Samuel, also believed to be Lewis' father. If so, the mention of Eda Carroll as a beneficiary of Lewis' wife Ally's father may be explained. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, May 04, 2008 1:06 PM Subject: [NCSAMPSO] Researching Gavin > Hi Betty, > > Thanks you for your posting of the information about Ally Beasley. 3. The tree info I tried to paste in previously is posted at http://cometskies.com/genealogy/FamilyTrees/FamilyTree-JohnCharlesBell.html There is an excel spread sheet at http://cometskies.com/genealogy/FamilyTrees/ This is a simple template for showing your lineage for several generations. You can then save it in many formats such as a web page (.htm or .html file extension) It opens in OpenOffice, a free open source office productivity suite. I am kind of graphically oriented. The diagrams say so much more than just pasting in a bunch of names. -------------- Original message from [email protected]: -------------- > Hi, > > Enoch Godwin was my ggg grandfather's brother-in-law. 3. Thanks, you gave me her given name. I gave you her maiden name. Now that I have both names, maybe I can find put more and get back with you. A cousin on mine in Clinton, NC is asking around for me. I am in Vicksurg MS. Her given name being Esther certainly fits as that was a family name that might have come down from her. This is good we are sharing. Thanks so much. Charles -------------- Original message from [email protected]: -------------- > Hi, > > Enoch Godwin was my ggg grandfather's brother-in-law. John & Jane I believe died it Ga where I last found them in the 1860 census. Reddin married first Nancy Faircloth daughter of Raiford Faircloth and Martha Jones. I believe we have talked in the past but I am not sure. Hope to connect. As for Bonnie who asked about my Tyner connection I am not sure what all it may have been at one time. I know it has been Tiner/Tyner/Tanner I believe as well as other variations. I do not know as I said about Tyler. It is an Indian name. 3. Hi, Jackie, My great great grandmother was Margaret M. Gavin, daughter of Lewis R. Gavin and Ally Beasley of Duplin and Sampson County. She married William Washington Fulghum. W. W. Fulghum was the first engineer on the Atlantic Coastline Railroad on the Brunswick. He lived at Magnolia, NC, headquarters/yard for RR. The Atlantic Coastline was the first railroad in North Carolina. First train ran March 9, 1840. First engine was Brunswick from Weldon to Wilmington and New Hanover from Wilmington to Weldon. 1. [NCSAMPSO] Williams - Sampson Co, NC
    2. Betty Wiggins
    3. Hello All, My Sampson County roots go deep, also. I suspect that we are all related. My Williams are: John "Jack" Wiggins (1790-1868) married about 1848 as his 2nd wife Catherine A. Elizabeth "Kitty" Williams (1823-1899), daughter of Bennett Williams (1797-aft 1880) and Keren Jordan (1801-1835). Bennett Williams and wife Keren had children: Kitty Williams (above), Isaiah Williams (29 Mar 1825-13 Apr 1905), a son born about 1827, and Elizabeth Williams born abt 1833. Isaiah Williams (son of Bennett & Keren's) married Annie Sutton (22 Mar 1827-13 Mar 1907) about 1849. They had children: Clarisa (1852), Naney (1854), Thomas (1855), John (1857), Caroline (1858), Sarah (1861), Mary Frances (5 June 1867), Harriet Ann Matilda (15 Dec 1869), and Lewis (1873). Harriet Ann Matilda "Hattie" Williams married (1) abt 1888 Richard Mason, and (2) 30 Nov 1897 my grandfather Henry Roland Wiggins. I have a photo of Bennett Williams. Would love to exchange photos, as well as information.
