    3. Mary Frances, I think the Sampson County Register of Deeds has their deeds online that are searchable. I am slowly copying the deed books, and hope to get someone to transcribe them so they can be placed online, but so far no luck. It may turn out that I just scan the copies ion and place them on the site without transcriptions, which will make them inaccessible by the search engines. (Meaning when you search the site for a name the deeds won't be listed because there is no transcription and the search engine can't index scanned originals or photos) Maybe one day someone will come along and offer to help transcribe them, but until then I will continue to obtain copies of the deeds and put them in my filing cabinet until I can find the time to transcribe them and get them online. The photo is about 1890-1910 (I am terrible at dating these). Written on the back is "Missouri Tadlock." So far, I do not have Tadlock in my family, but I did some quick research and found that she was from Wayne County, daughter of Joshua Tadlock and Betsy Bradford. She is standing in the photo, in a black dress with a very somber expression. She was born in 1858 and died 18 Sep 1934, a spinster. Some of her family moved to Sampson County. It is so sad to find wonderful old photos and not know who they are. I stopped what I was doing and wrote names on the backs of all my own photos.
