    1. [SAMPSON] Sites for finding Y-DNA matches
    2. Lura
    3. Jason, Regarding places to search for Y-DNA matches... I tried to search at Genebase, and the only options I had were for mtDNA and autosomal DNA. If I want to search for Y-DNA matches, I suppose I will need to login again using the name of my male cousin. You might want to try http://www.ybase.org/ I have not yet used that search instrument, but I intend to do that. SMGF, the project started years ago by James LeVoy Sorenson offered free tests for several years. They did not send results to the donor and did not show them in the database for about a year. After about a year their results were shown in the data base. Since Mr. Sorenson's death, they seem to no longer offer the free tests. They suggest sending the sample to GeneTree, and apparently the results are added at SMGF. The database can be searched free by anyone, but you must register. To search for matches, you must fill in the values for the person you are trying to match. http://www.smgf.org/pages/overview.jspx Another site might be worth visiting even though it isn't searchable by Y-DNA markers. http://www.worldfamilies.net/ is a site that hosts several surname projects from FTDNA, and you can search by surname. I'd also be interested to know if there are other sites a person may search for Y-DNA matches FREE of charge besides FTDNA, the various surname Projects, YSearch, Genebase, YBase, and SMGF. Each of these has its own peculiar way of getting to the information.
