Can anyone tell me who Haywood Raynor from Sampson Co. Was, who was his parents. Donna
I would really like a lookup on the family name of Rayner, Raynor and Raynder in Sampson Co. for 1830 and 1840. I know the index for 1840 is 017 for all three names, the 1830 I do not know the number. Also Duplin Co. if you have access to the records. Thank you to anyone that can help. Donna
Looking for a -----JAMES who married Enoch BLANTON, either in Duplin or Sampson County. They had 2 dau by 1830 Sampson CO NC census record, and Enoch was born about 1802 and he list his age in the census as 20 and under 30, his wife list her age as 20 and under 30 also and the 2 girls are under 5. Enoch could have died by 1840 as there is no record of him after that. Thanks, Jeanie<3
Listmembers, in Duplin Co., 1809, land belonging to Thomas JAMES [apparently Thomas had died intestate] was divided among three people, Eliza JAMES being one of the three. [There was also an illegible given name beginning with a G and ending with a Y; a given name that looked like Tempo---illegible]. What was the relationship of Eliza JAMES to Thomas JAMES? Where was the divided land located? How much land did Eliza receive? Thanks for any information. fran fpowellsr@starpower.net
Revolutionary War pensions may contain marriage information, and the names of several siblings or children, and their whereabouts at the time of the application. A quick genealogical check can be made by examing Abstracts of Revolutionary War Pension Applications (3 volumes) by Virgil White, all Revolutionary War pension applicants are listed in alphabetical order. A similar series has been edited by the same author for the War of 1812 pensioners
Abstracts of Revolutionary War Pension Applications have been published in Genealogical Abstracts of Revolutionary War Pension Files by Virgil D. White. Many libraries have copies of these books. Jeanie<3

I am looking for info on Enoch BLANTON, b about 1811 in Duplin/Sampson Co NC. He is listed on the 1830 Sampson CO NC census record as follows: 1 male 20 and under 30, 2 females under 5 and 1 female 20 and under 30. He is not found in the 1840 census record and I believe he must have died between 1834 and 1840. I am trying to see if the children listed in the 1850 Horry CO SC living with A(could this be Alfred?). and Jane JERNIAGAN and listed as Ruth age 22, David age 17 and MA (probably Martha Ann or Mary Ann) BLANTON, could be the children of Enoch. I don't know the maiden name of Enoch's wife, but it could have been JAMES. Enoch is the son of Joshua BLANTON Sr and Mary ALDERMAN BLANTON. In the 1840 census record of Horry CO SC I found 2 girls 5 and under 10 living with Joshua Jr. I don't believe these are his children so they could have been Enoch's. Also living with Moses in this same census record is a boy 5 and under 10 who is the age that the above David was at the time. Moses didn't have children so I know he isn't his. Anyone have a missing JAMES girl in their family who would have been born about 1811? Thanks, Jeanie<3

Gary, Jonathan Cooper is my 5G Uncle and Captain John Cooper is my 5G Grandfather. Jonathan had a sister names Zilpha and she is my 4G Grandmother. You can see all the information that I have on http://singletonfamily.org/ There was a John Barden that came to Sumter District, South Carolina. He was born about 1750 and died in Sumter around 1807. He married Rebecca Mellette. I am 99% sure that he is related to my line of Bardens. Do you know anything about that John? jackie in Sumter, SC
It has been a while since I posted this: Seeking any and all information on Jonathan(Johnathon)COOPER, b. late 1700s in Sampson Co., NC, married ca. 1809, died after 1850 (last appeared in a census in 1850 in Marion County, GA. This Jonathan was the son of Capt. John Cooper, and grandson of Fleet Cooper, Sr., of Sampson, Co., NC His spouse was probably Drusellah (Drewsiller, Drucsilla) Stevens, based upon info in the Stevens Bible Record and John Stevens' will. This is not the Jonathan who married Patty Thames in 1807. He was possibly a fortunate drawer in the 1827 Georgia Land Lottery. There was a Jonathan Cooper who drew a lot in Muscogee County, Ga, in a portion that later became Marion Co. This means he would probably have had to have a GA residence for three years prior to the lottery. He last appeared in Sampson Co., in 1830. He appears in Marion Co, Ga in 1840 and 1850 censuses. He as a neighbor to Wiley Wiggins (a cousin) in both states. The Wiley and Willis Wiggins families moved to Marion Co., in 1833. That is also the year than Jonathan's daughter, Zilpha was married to her cousin Wiley Wiggins. Jonathan's children include: William Stevens, Zilpha, John, Hardy, Williby (Willoughby), Rhoda, Martha and possibly others. Thanks for any input! Regards, Gary garluke@juno.com Gary W. & Christie J. Diane: I have no idea where you are going to be traveling from but it is easy to find the county seat. The county seat is Clinton, NC. If you were to fly into Raleigh, you would just drive down I-40 and follow the signs. If you are coming from the north or south and driving, you can use I-95 and pick up Hwy 24 East to Clinton. The courthouse is in the middle of the downtown area with parking along the streets that form the circle. You really shouldn't have any problems. Diane in Fayetteville, NC > I have no idea, Diane. Diane, Clinton is the county seat for Sampson Co., North Carolina. it is at the intersection of US highways 421, 721 and State highway 24. Take State highway 24 off of interstate 40 and go west to Clinton From interstate 95, take State highway 24 to the East to Clinton. Clinton is Southeast of Raleigh and directly east of Fayetteville. fyi= When I was down in Clinton, had good sucess at the County Library. The folks at the library was quite pleasant and helpful. also, remember that Sampson county and Duplin county was split. I do not remember the exact year so you may wish to check out both counties. joe NCSAMPSO-D-request@rootsweb.com wrote: > Subject: > > NCSAMPSO-D Digest Volume 02 : Issue 65 > > Today's Topics: > #1 Re: Sampson County [Denise Woodside <seek4fam@yahoo.co] > > Administrivia: > To unsubscribe from NCSAMPSO-D, send a message to > > NCSAMPSO-D-request@rootsweb.com > > that contains in the body of the message the command > > unsubscribe > > and no other text. I would love a lookup on the 1910 or 1920 census record of Wayne Co., Grantham Township for Funifold Raynor, his name could be listed as Ferney or Fumis or Fumus. I tried to sign up for the census on line but my computer would not let it, it said my security was to high. Can anyone help? Donna
Can anyone tell me where Monks Store was in 1870, was it the store that was on the corner of Hwy 55 and 50 in Westbrook Township. Hudson dau. of Joel Green Hudson III and Elizabeth E.Westbrook. They were buried in the Hudson Cem. on Hwy. 55 where Interstate 40 came. Don't know if the cem. is still there. Does anyone in that area know if the cem. is there or did the state move the cem.? Trying to find more info on William Raynor and his wife Mary (unknown). Does anyone have that info? Does anyone know how to get in touch with the Our Lady of Guadalup Cathodic Church? William's brother is buried there and joined the church along with one of his daughters on 13 Nov. 1915. ON SALE NOW! A New Book Out On Sampson County, N. C. NINTEENTH CENTURY VITAL STATISTICS OF SAMPSON COUNTY AND DUPLIN COUNTY, N. C., {1796 - 1870}, VOL. 1. This book consists of articles on births, marriages, family reunions, biographies, and deaths out of Fayetteville and Wilmington newspapers. I have researched through many a newspapers for information on Sampson County. I did Duplin County out of respect for it being the parent county of Sampson County. There is so much quailty information in these articles. I typed the articles as they appeared. There is no article abstraction here. It has 244 pages with an index. The price is $30.00. About The Book Newspapers -Name of newspaper, place, date, and volume number. The newspapers had no page numbers. Births - No birth events located. Marriages - Titles are listed in bold print. Articles tells of the bride and groom, giving information on residence, relatives, name of the pastor who performed the ceremony, date and place of wedding. Also there are poems mentioned, as well as some short stories. Some articles, in volume 2, marriages become more detailed in describing weddings and whom the attendants were, along with poems and short stories. Family Reunions - For whom the re-union was for, age, birthdate, and the children if listed. Biographies - For whom the article speaks of, describing the person's life, family, and occupation. Deaths - Titles are listed in bold print. Articles tells of the deceased, where he passed away, of relatives, of what the deceased died from, religious affiliations, and memorials given as a tribute of respect. Some mentions the pastor who attends the funeral. There are many poems and elaborate descriptions of the deceased as giving by family and friends, along with some articles. Titles and Headings - On all articles if there were titles or headings I placed them in bold print. If there were special titles used such as in the Butler Murder, I tried to match the exact fonts or letters as were used to give the exact excitement when it first appeared. Duplicate Entries - There are a few occasions where some entries were similar. In these cases one entry may give more information on people than the other entry, but both entries are given. Unless both are identical and only one entry was entered. Author's Note: These articles I have researched through many a newspapers for information on Sampson County. I did Duplin County out of respect for it being the parent county of Sampson County. I copied the articles as they appeared. There is no abstraction here. There are a few occasions where something was wrong with the paper and a word might not be legible or the paper is too wrinkled to read. I feel like there is too much quality of information in these articles to be abstracted and abstracting them takes the meaning away as they were intended by the various author's who wrote them.
