    1. Re: Sampson tax list of 1835
    2. I am looking for any information on my great grandparents William Jullius West born July 10, 1849 and Nancy Ellen (Salmon) West. They are buried in the Baptist Church cemetary in Turkey, NC, Sampson County. I think that Nancy's parents were Kelby Salmon and Annie Jane Fussell. As a little girl I was told that they ran the general store in Turkey and lived in a house across the railroad from the store. I would love to know if anyone out there can tell me if the william is the same William listed in the 1850 Census with George R. West? If not does anyone know the father of William Jullius West? I am also interested in further information on The Salmon family and the Fussell Family. I have just begun to research my family history and would appreciate it if anyone could point me in the right direction. My grandfather was Henry Preston Roberts and My Grandmother was Melissa West Roberts. Thank you for taking the time to read this and please know that any help will be appreciated. 3. Listmembers, I have had considerable number of requests for lookups on the Sampson Co. tax list of 1835. I will do a few each day in order received. I just need to remind folks that there were about ten tax districts in Sampson Co., 1835, and I have copies of the taxpayers from only two of those districts, Mingo and Turkey. If your ancestor did not live in either of those districts I will not have anything on him. Will reply as soon as I can to all lookup requests. Fran fpowellsr@starpower.net

    3. Listmembers, I am searching for the parentage of George R. WEST who was hoh on the Sampson census of 1850. George R. was not enumerated on the census of 1840. Thanks for any help/clues/sources. 3. Listmembers, I recently found on the NSDAR pages that an accepted proof of Revolutionary War service was an oath of fidelity, support and allegiance. The oaths are listed as below on the NSDAR site: "Signer of Oath of Fidelity and Support, Oath of Allegiance, etc." Does anyone have information as to whether these oaths were oral or written? If written are there extant records of these oaths? How and where may I locate them for Bladen, Duplin and Sampson Counties? Thanks for any help/suggestions/directions. Fran fpowellsr@starpower.net
