Can anyone tell me where to go at Wilmington, NC to research info. I'm going there in about two weeks and don't know anything about that area. Is there a good library to do research, does anyone have any recommendations. Thanks, Donna
Lura advised this site [[Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System http://165.83.221.5/cwss/]] that I had copied wasn't working for her..... My apologies to all. In my haste to answer I copied the url from the archives, but didn't try out the link. I, too, was not able to get the link to work, either from aol or my cable internet...however, a Google search came up with the following and it does work--at least today. Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System The CWSS is a comprehensive research tool for searching the records of the soldiers and sailors that fought in the Civil War. I too have asked that before and I got no response. No one seems to know who and it isn't up for adoption. Bradley
Does this list have a list manager? If so, will that person please contact me? Fran fpowellsr@starpower.net
Listmembers, in his Duplin Co., 1787 will, Timmothy MURPHEY bequeathed to Daniel GIBSON, "a small tract of land on a branch of Stockinghead where Francis GIBSON now lives". Daniel was identified as a son of Francis. What was the relationship of Timmothy MURPHEY to Daniel and Francis GIBSON? Thanks for any help. fran fpowellsr@starpower.net
Listmembers, these five folks were cited as heirs of Thomas JAMES when his land was divided among them, Duplin Co., 1809. Would like to know how these folks related to Thomas JAMES. Also the divided lands had been known as the MOLBA Plantation. Can anyone tell me anything about that plantation? Daniel Love KENAN or Daniel Levi KENAN; Temperance JAMES; Eliza JAMES; Robert MIDDLETON and Grizzy JAMES. Thanks for any help. fran fpowellsr@starpower.net
Listmembers, when I wrote a few days ago that Thomas W. HERRING had married Jane WEST, I made an error that I now wish to correct. Thomas W. HERRING married Sarah WEST, a daughter of Daniel WEST. Jane WEST, sister to Sarah, married John FREDERICK. Regrets, Fran fpowellsr@starpower.net

Jane WEST born September 1809, probably Duplin Co., NC, married Thomas W. HERRING. When did Jane and Thomas marry? Jane was a daughter of Daniel WEST, Sr. of Duplin and Sampson Counties. When was Thomas W. HERRING born and who were his parents? Was this Thomas related to West HERRING? Who were the children of Jane and Thomas W. HERRING? Thanks for any information. Fran fpowellsr@starpower.net
Regarding West HERRING married to Charity HERRING. I have a record of Charity HERRING as the first of 11 children of parents William Giles HERRING and Penelope PITTMAN. She was born 10 September 1792, and likely in Wayne Co., NC. Later children were born in Robeson Co. I don't have any marriage info for this Charity HERRING. If it turns out that she did marry West HERRING, I would be interested in the information. Barry Collier <bcollier@neo.rr.com> -----------
