I am looking for info on Enoch BLANTON who is listed in the Sampson CO NC 1830 census records. He could have been married to -----JAMES? He had 2 girls under 5 in this census and he list his age as 20-30. His wife is listed as 20-30. He was the son of Joshua Sr of Duplin CO NC and Joshua SR had moved to Horry CO SC at the time of this census. Listed with Enoch on the same page is John BLANTON and Abraham BLANTON, both brothers of Enoch. I think Enoch died between 1830 and 1840 as I don't find him in the 1840 census record. I have found the following and would like to know if anyone on the list connects to this family. I cannot PROVE that this is my Reddin/Redding Williams, but highly suspect it is. I am looking for information on Abner T. COOPER [b. 11-29-1854 - d. 09-21-1903]. I understand he was a doctor, not positive what type of doctorial degree. He was the son of Hiram B. COOPER & Mary J. SPELL. After the death of his mother, he was raised by his grandfather, Hardy SPELL. He was listed in the 1860 & 1870 US Censuses with Hardy SPELL and family in the Little Coharie District, NC. He was also noted as an enumerator in the 1870 Census in Sampson County. Abner T. married (unknown) and is said to have had at least one child, Mitchell COOPER. I have been unable to locate any information on Abner T. with his wife, and son, Mitchell, or any other children. After his death, Abner was buried in the Salemburg Baptist Church Cemetery, Salemburg, Sampson Co., NC His father, Hiram B., remarried Elizabeth E. SMITH and had three other children before he died a prisoner of war in the Elmira Prison Camp in New York in 1865. Westbrook township is in Sampson Co., but our mail came from Harnett Co., Dunn, NC. Bradley, I am looking for a record of the marriage of 2 brothers to 2 sisters: James Jesse Huggins married Elizabeth Ann Kornegay of Sampson County on August 25, 1865 according to J. J. Huggins' Bible records, but I haven't found any other record of it and the Bible has since been lost. (My Aunt hand copied all the genealogical information from it while she had it for a time during the 1970s, but didn't get it notarized or photocopied, so we just have her notes.) James' brother, William Henry Huggins married Elizabeth's sister, Susan L. Kornegay, about 1873 - no other information as his information was either not noted in his brother's Bible or my Aunt just didn't copy it. Stephanie

Fran fpowellsr@starpower.net ____________________________________________________________ [MATHIS, Edmond; b. 1776 in Sampson Co, NC; d. 1860 in Clinch Co, GA; buried at Prospect Church (grave unmarked); 4 children: Bunyan, John, Tyre, & Nancy.] Edmond was the co-founder of the Wayfare Church (his name is mentioned on the historical marker along with his wife and his brother John) and his wife Unity Register/Mathis (b. 1778 in Sampson Co, NC; d/of John Register; d. 1853 in Ware Co, GA ~now Echols~) is buried there (unmarked grave). It is only one of many churches that he founded in the surrounding county area. Edmond and his two brothers, John & James, came to the area in about 1802 from Sampson Co, NC. Judge Folks Huxford wrote about the three of them in his "Pioneers of Wiregrass Georgia" books.

Does anyone have any information on the Huggins school located at the turn of the century in Piney Grove area of Sampson County? The school is mentioned in the Sampson County heritage book as existing in 1907. Thanks!
