    3. Ron, I am just going to send you Vann records from my data base which might be of interest to you. I apoligize for the size of the print. I am working on a new mail program and don't know how to change it. If you can't read it holler and I'll change the size within my document. Dinkins is an unusual surname and Shade Wilson's brother married a Dinkins in west TN whose mother probably a widow had recently married a John Ward. This John Ward is thought to be their Uncle, brother of Shade's mother Elizabeth Ward-Wilson. Dinkins: 1810 will of JOHN JOSEPH DINKINS names wife Seley/Selah and seemingly young children Anne Lewesar Denkins; Lotty Licinda Dinkins; Lanay Dinkins and Sally Seraney Dinkins. [Have always thought this could possibly be Shade's real first name. This William is mentioned earlier, Feb 1800 when he and Stephen King and Dobbs Young were named to a Jury. Edwd Vann is on lots and lots of Wilson records.William could also be a missing brother who was not living with the family by the time the first census caught up with them. 3. Greetings Lynn, Over the past three years, the Lindsay Surname DNA Project has turned up indisputable biological branches of my Lindsays in Nash County, North Carolina (not a surprise), Carroll County, Virginia, Maryland and Mississippi. We are still trying to establish the most recent common ancestor (MRCA) for these various Lindsay/Lindsey lineages. At this point, I have no knowledge of any of my Lindsays ever living in Tennessee, however it remains to be seen if any of my Lindsays ever lived there. I would appreciate any additional information that you might have on the Lindsays or Vanns in your database. I graduated from high school in Mount Olive (Wayne County), NC with two Wilsons. Cheers. 3. I did a little looking at the Lindsays with out finding out too much. Wilsons, Lindsays and Vanns seem to have been in the same area up near the Wayne Co border. I don't have the info for Sampson Co on this computer, but will later look to see what I have that might help you. I have always wondered if the same Lindsays were the name source of Lindsay Kavender Tinkle whose daughter married Shadrach "Shade" Wilson in Gibson Co TN after the civil war. Shade Wilson was the last generation of our branch to be born in Sampson Co., son of James and Elizabeth Ward Wilson who took their family to Gibson TN in ca 1838. Did your Lindsays spent time in middle TN? 3. Ron, I have an interest, because I suspect an earlier connection before Sampson Co between the Vanns and the Wilsons. The Vanns appear on quite a few records with our Wilsons in Sampson. 1. Johnson/Johnston in Sampson 1790
    2. Callaway
    3. I am looking for information on the Joshua Johnston who appeared in the 1790 census in Sampson County. There is a possibility that this is my line. What I know about my Joshua Johnson is this: Joshua Johnston lived in NC until at least 1802. Between 1802 and 1810 he moved to Horry County, SC, where he appears in the 1810 census. We know this Joshua had six sons--David (my ancestor, born in NC in 1802), Enoch, Jacob, Joshua, Nathan, and William--and three daughters--names not known. Joshua Sr. and his wife (name unknown) both died in Horry Co., SC, between 1810 and 1820. His son, Joshua Jr. appears in the 1820 census of Horry Co.but then he moved to Georgia in the early 1820's, as did most of the sons. Apparently, the sons all dropped the "t" from Johnston about that time. I am fairly confident, based on the little bit we know about the sex and ages of his children that this is the Joshua in the 1800 census of Duplin County, N.C. And, of the nine Joshua Johnston/Johnson families in the 1790 census of North Carolina, only two seemed to be likely candidates for our Joshua: the ones in Sampson and Edgecombe counties. I'm hoping someone on this list can help me learn more about the Sampson Co. Joshua. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Dorothy (Johnson) Callaway Baxter, Iowa
