    1. [NCRUTHER-L] Jefferson and Foster Family

    3. Good morning, I am new to this new board. My 4th great-grandfather, Bazil (Bozzle, Basil) Jefferson and his brother Thomas J. Jefferson were born in Amelia County, Virginia and then migrated to Rutherford County. Thomas J. later moved west and Bazil moved to Forsyth County, Georgia. Bazil's son, Thomas E. Jefferson was my 3rd great-grandfather. He married Mary Frances Foster. She was born November 16, 1823 in either North Carolina or South Carolina (census records are contradictory on this fact). She was living in Rutherford County at the time of their marriage (September 10, 1844). I am hoping to find Mary Frances' parents. In 1860, I found two Fosters in the Rutherford County census - an Edmon, age 34 and a Fendal age 54. I don't have any idea of these men are related to Frances or not - but I was hoping someone on the list might be aware of who they were. Thomas and Frances moved to Cherokee County, Georgia in 1860 with their three daughters, Mary Elizabeth, Margaret Ann and Eliza Jane. Eliza Jane was my 2nd great-grandmother. Frances Foster Jefferson died October 21, 1901 and is buried in Cherokee County, Georgia. Her husband was killed at the Battle of Vicksburg in 1864. She never remarried and lived by herself after her daughters married. Rebecca Bannister rbannister@comcast.net Rutherford County Surnames: Jefferson, Foster, Brady, Tanner
