Hi List This is my first posting. I am researching the McGaha family from Rutherford Co. Josiah McGaughe/Mcgaha b 1799 married Delilah Deen in 1823. Their first born, James A. McGaha is my ancestor. Josiah's father was named William McGaha. He would be born around 1775. They lived in Rutherford Co until the early 1800's when they moved to Gilmer Co GA which became Pickens Co. James A. migrated on to KY during the Civil War. The last sighting of William was in Gordon Co, GA on the 1860 census. His grandson Josiah, Jr was living with him. I think the William in question is the same William McGaughey who married Mimy Patterson in Rutherford Co in 1792. The 1820 Rutherford Co census has a Mimy McGaughey living alone as head of household so William either died ( and in that case, he is not my ancestor) or he ran off to GA. Does anyone on this list know anything about this McGaughey family? Any other Josiah researchers out there? I have tons of info on the family after they left NC but I sure would love some info during the NC years. Thanks Pam McGaha Holloway
