I thought it might be of interest to someone: April 1796: Whereas application hath been made to the court to alter the name of Elias Biggerstaff illegimate son of Samuel McFadin to that of Elias McFadin is accordingly done and the same be voted in as full and ample manner as the act of assembly in such case made and provided will admit. ___________________________________________________________ Also looking for information on these individuals: January 1794: Betty Woodward made oath in open court that 21 head of cattle executed at the insistence of James Wells against David Nowland is her own proper right and that she never bartered or traded the said cattle to any person whatsoever, order therefore that the said property be released from under execution and be restored to the said B. Woodward April 1795: Benjamin Wilkinson proved a deed from Phillip Crowder and David Nowlin Woodward to William Crowder containing 140 acres in order to be registered. Dated January 12, 1795. _______________________________ What is the David NOWLIN/ Betty WOODWARD connection? In the Nowlin family Bible dating from 1805 David Nowlin Sr.'s wife is named Betty. BUT by 1794 she would have been Betty Nowlin, not Betty Woodward (their first child born 1775). Is this Betty Woodward David Nowlin Sr.'s wife using her maiden name, or another Betty? And who is David Nowlin Woodward? William Crowder is David Nowlin Sr's daughter Sarah's father in law, Phillip Crowder her uncle in law. This has gotten me a bit confused! Any insight is appreciated.
