I can barely contain my excitement. For those of who are descended from William Baxter/Sarah Berryhill or Jennie Lee, this is a real treasure. Thanks to Elaine Eaves Cox for alerting me to this find. This month's issue of Georgia Backroads magazine has an article titled: "The Georgia Ax Murders." It is a very detailed and well researched account of the gruesome death of Wm.'s son Wm. Jr. (1796-1838) and his son James Newton Baxter, age 12, and Caroline(a) Baxter, age 13, dau. of Andrew Baxter. If you are interested in obtaining a copy, contact the publication at: 770-642-5569. Or email at: olin@georgiahistory.ws. There is no website. I have seen accounts of this murder in family data previously, but nothing as far-reading and detailed as this telling of the story. I highly recommend you obtain a copy if you are a descendant. I ordered 3 copies for my children and me last week and was told they "have plenty" on hand if others are interested.
