This may or may not be of any help to you on the questions you ask about Greens and Jones. For several years I've tried to identify Gracie Jones family. She was the wife of Rev. Permenter Morgan of Rutherford Co., NC, and I have looked at various records for Jones also living in Rutherford Co in the period 1779 to 1830 trying to see if I can find any Jones who may connect. I have had little luck, but some of the notes I have collected may help you. Rutherford Co., NC will abstracts 1779 - 1910 , Turner and Philbeck, 1982 shows a will for John Jones (Sandy Run) written 15 Sept. 1819. List wife Ann. Daughters: Sarah Buchanon, Martha Green, Elizabeth Buchanon, Nancy Green, Francis Bridges, Mildred McKinney. Sons: Stephen Jones, Edmond Jones, Robert Jones, John Jones, Jr, Lewis Jones, Elijah Jones, Allen Jones and Sterling Jones, dec'd- his children. Son Sterling Jones also left a will written 20 Sept. 1816, probated October 1817. List wife Fanney. Daughter Elizabeth. Sons: James Jones, Nathaniel Jones. There is a marriage bond for a Lucy Green to George Green 13 March 1784 in Rutherford Co., NC, bondsman Kusiah Johnson, but I don't find a bond for either Martha or Nancy Jones to Greens in Rutherford Co., NC. Edmund Jones marriage bond to Susannah McKinney is dated 17 January 1803 Rutherford Co., NC William McKinney bondsman. The witness listed is Drury Dobbins, a well known Baptist preacher in the area, who was pastor of Sandy Run Baptist church. More on Drury Dobbins below. The marriage bond for John Green to Leathey McKinney is dated 20 December 1819 in Rutherford Co., NC, with William Green as bondsman. There was a bond for Aaron Green to Pheby McKinney dated 18 September 1831 in Burke Co., NC with bondsmen, Elijah Green and James A. Harris. I don't know if these are related but the names share some similarities. There is a marriage bond for Shad Green to Mary Gage dated 20 December 1782 Rutherford Co., NC. Timothy Riggs bondsman. I can't find a bond for a Shadrach Green to Martha or "Patsy" Green in the Rutherford/Burke Co marriage abstracts. P. 26 Jul. 1832 - Abner Green/Elizabeth Wilson Rutherford Co., NC - bm: Shadrach Green Wit: Drury Dobbins 1 August 1838 - Marvel Green/Elizabeth Dicus Rutherford Co., NC - bm: Shadrach Green Wit: Drury Dobbins 30 Janaury 1838 - Cornelius Green/Martha Harrell Rutherford Co., NC - bm: Shadrach Green Wit: Drury Dobbins Elder Drury Dobbins, according to Deacon John R. Logan in Sketches, Historical and Biographical of the Broad River and King's Mountain Baptist Association from 1800 to 1882, pub. 1887, Shelby, NC, was ordained as a minister in 1803 and was a delegate to the Broad River Baptist Association meeting in the Fall of 1803 as a representative of Sandy Run (Baptist) Church. At that time Sandy Run was in Rutherford Co., NC but that area became part of Cleveland Co., when it was formed in 1841. From the John Jones will identifying him as living in Sandy Run and then the appearance of Drury Dobbins as witness (many times the minister who married the couple) of the 4 Green marriages in Rutherford Co., NC with Shadrach as witness, you may find further information on both these families if you can locate a copy of the Minutes of Sandy Run Baptist Church for that time period. I have one other Jones question about those living in early Rutherford Co., NC. Does any one know who Standifer Jones belongs to? I am interested in Martha "Patsy" Jones whose marriage bond with Joseph Reel 14 July 1835, with Standifer Jones as bondsman. Can any one identify either Jones and who they belong to?
