My lineage through my father is MAHAFFEE (sometimes misspelled in the census records as MAHAFFE, MAHAFFEY, MAHAFFY). Patillo G. MAHAFFEE (picture on _www.findagrave.com_ (http://www.findagrave.com) ) is my great-grandfather (born in 1845 in SC but moved to, and died in, Rutherford County). His father is J. Manning MAHAFFEE (born in 1825 in SC; date and place of death unknown--just found him a few weeks ago.) My father Joseph Walter MAHAFFEE was born in Rutherford County in 1908 and died in Charleston, SC in 1987. His father was Manning Brooks MAHAFFEEE and was married to Ms. Johnnie FORTUNE.
