    1. Re: [NCRUTHER-L] Roll call - Withrow
    2. Hello Susan, This is a shot in the dark, but... I have a Withrow in my line dating back to the Revolutionary War era. My Withrow line begins with Jacob and wife Elizabeth Alder in the 96 District of SC. They had a son James and I know that in this same era there is a James Withrow that fought in the Rev. War as a Captain. I have observed various spellings for Withrow (Wethrow, Wetherow, Witherow) Is this the Withrow line that you are following? Do you have parents for the Captain James Withrow in Rutherford County, NC during this time? My Withrow line of Jacob and Elizabeth (Alder) Withrow, in addition to James, had John, Jacob, Sarah and David. The family story has it that James Withrow was a patriot during the Rev. War and fought against the British while everyone one else were Loyalist and bought with "Bloody" Bill Cunningham and the British Army. Jacob died in 1781 and Elizabeth died in 1782. The children were all evacuated and forfeited all property in the 96 District, SC. They first sailed from Charleston, SC to East Florida and then to Hants County, Nova Scotia, Canada. They were all given royal land grants in Nova Scotia for their service to the crown. Does any of this fit into your Withrow line? Thanks. David Coates Charlotte, North Carolina
