    3. Susan, Have you traced the Byars families before they came to Rutherford County? I have in mind that 3 or 4 family names came to southern Rutherford County together from Virginia. Doggett, Byars, Morrow, Suttle may have been the family names. Sarah Ann Doggett (out-of-wedlock mother of Bushrod Doggett named for her father who was Bushrod Doggett) married William Byars. Their sons were James, Stripling, George, and Charles. Sarah Ann was Culpeper Co (I think), VA. Perhaps one of those 4 sons was the ancestor of your Drury, Nathan, or Abraham. Check Rutherford County deeds, court records, etc for those 4 Byars sons and see if you can get a link. Are you close enough to go to the Rutherford County courthouse? If so, you might want to go to Isothermal Community College. They have oodles of old Rutherford County newspapers on microfilm dating back to 1830. you can also find names there. Websites to check: http://www.doggettfam.org/ http://www.dobyns.com/dobyns.genealogy/chdob.htm (mentions a Nathan Byars) http://www.dobyns.com/dobyns.genealogy/wdob.htm (mentions a bunch of more recent Byars & Dobbins http://rfci.net/wdfloyd/ Good luck and keep us posted.
