I am also researching the Whiteside surname. John Washington Harris married Sarah Whiteside in ca 1816 Rutherford County. His brother, Zaddock Harris was married to Mary Ledbetter and lived in Harris, Rutherford County, NC. My husband and I visited the Zaddock Harris home which is still in the Harris family and the cemetery across the road from the house. Mary's brother, Richard Ledbetter, III is buried there as well as Zaddock and Mary Harris and many of their descendants. John and Zaddock's father was James Harris who was supposed to be married to a Spivey but I have not been able to prove that as she was deceased at the time of his death in 1829.
