Hi, I'm hoping that someone can help me. I'm currently researching information on Maggie Davis. She is my second great grandmother. She married J C (James) Hemphill in McDowell County North Carolina. At this point, I'm trying to confirm her father as being James Davis born about 1821 in North Carolina. In the 1850 census, he is listed as living in the Sandy Run area of Rutherford County being a wheelright. He later moved to McDowell County and can be found in McDowell County in both the 1860 and 1870 census. If anyone has information on the Davis family from Rutherford that moved to McDowell County between 1850 - 1860, I would greatly appreciate hearing from them. Warmest Regards, Anna
