I am researching the lankford family of Rutherford/Polk Conty in NC> My ggrandfather was John Walaker Lankford born in 1833 in one of these Counties. The Mormon records list it both ways. The ancesty records list William as his father. I have researched this is depth and do feel it to be accursate. Another Mormon record list Robert and Sybil Taylor lankford as parents. Their age is not right. I have looked in depth at census rolls and other data and the male son that fits in birthdate and county of birth is a son of Braxton Bragg lankford, a son of Robert. Ancestry, familytreebuilder, and rootsweb list his name as Walton. I am wondering if the writing in old records could have been misinterpreted and the nMe was Walker. Walker's wbts pension application with information from him cited 1833, Rutherford county as birth info.
