BURTON HICKS at Spartanburg ; JAMES MARVIN BUTLER of Forest City and MAGGIE ETHEL PADGETT of Henrietta, were married April1. May 7, 1942- GRADY G. PADGETT Spindale, May 6.- GRADY GLENN PADGETT, 10 year old son of MR. and MRS. J.G. PADGETT died today in a Rutherfordton Hospital after an extended illness. Surviving are the parents; one sister, MABLE and a brother, REX PADGETT. Funeral services at the First Bapt. ch., the REV. J. BOYCE BROOKS in charge. Burial at Spindale cem. [ Greenberry Padgett is my ancestor] May 3, 1942- SHE IS 103 TODAY MISS MARY ANN SELVEY of Rutherford county, who will celebrate her 103 rd birth- day anniversary today. MISS SELVEY resides at the home of her great-nephew, H. COLUMBUS ARROWOOD of Union Mills, N.C. MISS SELVEY attributes her long life to temperate habits. She never worries and does not drink intoxicants nor overeat. Many of her relatives will visit her today. May 6, 1942- MR. G.O. LOVELACE DIES Shelby, May 5.- Funeral services for G.O. LOVELACE, 33 will be conducted from the Lattimore Bapt. ch. with the REV. JESSE BLALOCK in charge. He was a native of the Lattimore community. He died in the Shelby hospital this morning following an illness of about 18 months. Surviving are the widow, the former MISS SLENA HOLLAND; a brother, CLAYTUS LOVELACE and his parents, MR. and MRS. W.T. LOVELACE, Cleveland County. July 14, 1903- THE INDIANS AT SHELBY, Editor HOEY'S Account of the ball game The glorious Fourth was generally observed in Shelby in that the whole town and all our visiting friends went to see the game. The morning train from Gaffney City brought about two hundred people, including the ball team. MR. R.M. WELLS umpired the game and gave general satisfaction. At the close of the ninth inning the score was 6 to 9 in favor of Gaffney. July 6, 1948- MRS. GEORGE MOORE Shelby-Funeral services were planned today for MRS. GEORGE MOORE, 56, who died from injuries suffered in an automobile accident Sat. night. Officers said they believed the wreck occurred when ODELL COOK, driver of the car, went to sleep at the wheel. Others in the wreck were MRS. HOWARD HUFFSTETTLER and her three children. Cook went to the hospital but the others were not seriously hurt. July 21, 1948- HENRY CLAY HARRILL Spindale.- HENRY CLAY HARRILL, 62 died today at his home here after an extended illness. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. MR. HARRILL is survived by his wife, and 10 children; HERMAN and ROBERT of Forest City, RAY of Gastonia, CLYDE, EDWIN, MISS MARJORIE, MRS.J.T. CARPENTER, MRS. EVELYN MENIUS and MRS. DeWITT YELTON, all of Spindale and DAVID, US Navyin Alaska. Also are a brother, HOPE of Forest City and three sisters, MRS. W.E. MOORE of Forest City, MRS. W.G. YOUNG of Shelby and MRS. R.R.
