    3. OBITUARIES Nov.2, 1963- Spindale, N.C.- THOMAS A. ROSS, 82, died at his home early Friday. MR. ROSS was a retired Spindale Mills employee and a member of the First Bapt. Church. Surviving are; one daughter, MISS ETHEL ROSS, of Spindale; two sons, FRANK and ERNEST ROSS, both of Spindale; six sisters, MRS. ADAM GOINGS and MRS. DAN WHISNANT of Morganton; MRS. MAX SCOTT of Glen Alpine, MRS. M.C. McLURE of Mocksville, MRS. BULO HOYLE of Bostic and MRS.GEORGE SPIVEY of Brunswick; one brother CHARLIE ROSS of Hickory and 3 grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at Spindale First Bapt. ch. by REV. A.B. BUMGARNER. Burial will be in Spindale Cem. Hovis- Crowe Mortuary in charge. PERSONAL - Oct.16, 1914 MISS ESSIE PROCTOR has returned to her home in Rutherfordton,N.C. after visiting here. MRS. T.E. NOTT is visiting her daughter, MRS. ALLISON JAMES in Winston Salem. MRS. J.H. GETTYS and MRS. J.C. LATTIMORE have returned to their home in Rutherfordton, after a short stay here. MRS. R.E. BIGGERSTAFF and MISS EUNICE BIGGERSTAFF have returned to their home in Rutherfordton after a visit here. MRS. L.D. PROFFIT is visiting her parents in Gastonia, N.C. Oct. 9, 1914- MRS. LULA HARMON and MRS. H.C. THOMAS of Spartanburg and MR. and MRS. WALTON LIPSCOMB of White Stone, went to the funeral of NATHAN LIPSCOMB, who died in Charlotte Wednesday. Oct.21, 1914 [ Just an article of interest] Washington, Oct.20.- Word was received here today of the death of CAPT. ROBERT E. LEE, youngest son of GEN ROBERT E. LEE, the Confederate Commander, at Upperville, Va. last night. He had been seriously ill for some time. The body will be interred at Lexington, Va. Friday morning. CAPT. LEE was educated in private schools and in the Univ. of Va. At the outbreak of the Civil War, Capt. Lee joined the Rockbridge [Va.] artillery as a private. He took part in numerous engagements and was later promoted to the rank of Captain of artillery on the staff of his brother, GEN. W.H. F. LEE. Since the war Capt. Lee had been engaged in farming. He had married twice, his first wife being a MISS HAXALL, and his second wife, MISS JULLET CARTER of Washington. He leaves two children. He was the author of " Recollections and Letters of Gen Robert E.LEE". He was born at the old Lee mansion, now part of Arlington National Cem, Oct.27, 1843. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL- nancie
