    3. BULLDOGS ATTACK MISTRESS Charlotte, N.C. Sept. 6.- Three vicious and bloodthirsty bull dogs in the yard of M.B. POTTS on the Mount Holly road, attacked MRS. POTTS yesterday, tearing the clothing from her body and inflicting deep gashes in her arms and legs. She was standing alone in the yard when suddenly one of the dogs leaped at her. The other two dashed at her at the sound of her screams. Two men , names were not learned, lifted MRS. POTTS over the fence. MR. POTTS was out of town at the time of attack. She was treated by DR. W.F. MARTIN. She will be given the Pasteur treatment. More than a hundred persons in the vicinity of their home were attracted to the scene by the growling dogs. The animals were finally captured and penned up for signs of rabies. KILLS HIS RIVAL NEAR ASHEVILLE Asheville, Sept. 6.- Firing from his auto as it came upon another party on the highway between Buzzard Rock and Elk Wallow, in the mountains about 11 miles from Asheville, CHARLIE RENFRO, 21, instantly killed CLYDE LEE PALMER, 27, yesterday. Both men are from this county and PALMER is the s/o W.M. PALMER, prominent development contractor. RENFO made his escape after the shooting and sheriff E.M. MITCHELL, led the investigation into Yancy Co. where the aid of sheriff HALL is being pushed for the fugitive. The murder was said to have been the results of long standing trouble between the two men. In the car of the murdered man were CLAUDE PALMER, brother of deceased, LEWIS WARD, who is being held for larceny of the dead man's watch, and HAM BOWERS all of this county. In the car of the slayer were FRED DEAL, who was driving, DICK HOWARD, MAE MYERS, of Greenville, Tenn. and SARAH GALLOWAY of Skyland, N.C. Both women are being detained. VANNOY CLEVELAND is visiting her sister, MISS CATHERINE CLINKSCALES in Charlotte. MISS FAYE ERWIN of Rutherfordton is the guest of MISS INEZ CROWE. MR. and MRS. BAXTER LEMMOND and friends from Gaffney are enjoying a trip to Niagara Falls. MR. and MRS. HENRY NEWBERRY of Hendersonville, N.C. spent Sunday with MRS. NEWBERRY'S mother, MRS. G.B. CUDD. MR. and MRS. HASTE[?] CANTRELL of Gastonia spent Sunday with MRS. S.W. CANTRELL. MR. and MRS. L.A. HINES visited relatives in Tryon last week. WILLIAM HEAD is visiting his uncle, MR. A.B. CANTRELL. MR. and MRS. V.L. LIVINGSTON of Tryon motored to Chesnee to visit relatives Sunday. CHESNEE NEWS MR. and MRS. W.A. ALLISON and children spent several days visiting MRS. ALLISON'S sister, MRS. A.C. BOWERS at Morganton, N.C. MRS. ROSA WILLIAMS and son JACK of Chapel Hill, are visiting relatives here. ---- J.C. and HOSEA GARRETT of Charlotte, spent the weekend with their mother, MRS. ALLEN GARRETT at Woodruff. WILLIAM ROEBUCK and EARLE PATTERSON spent the weekend with relatives in Charlotte. HARRY McINTIRE of Charlotte visited friends in Woodruff.
