Hello, Does anyone have any information regarding a court case in Rutherford County involving a William Powell and Rebecca Mode? The case involved Rebecca being accused of having relations with William, the husband of her sister Nancy. A bastardy case between Rebecca and Franklin Goode has said to have indicated that Rebecca had children with William. Rebecca and three of her children were living with William and Nancy on the 1850 Census in Cleveland County. Also, does anyone know the names of the parents of Nancy and Rebecca Mode and if Rebecca ever married? Thanks for your help.

Hello, Can't put my hands on my copy of the court case when Franklin Goode & Rebecca Mode were in court on bastary charges, but do remember she won. Mr. Goode & some of his friends gave testimony that Rebecca was a lady of ill repute & had had relations with other men. Nancy Powell, William's wife was a witness for Rebecca. Rebecca won the case. I'll search this black hole I call an office & if I find the copies will be happy to share. I, too am interested in knowing the identity of Nancy's parents.
