A noted pioneer Baptist preacher, Elder Lewis McCurry, son of Micajah McCurry, died recently at Dysartsville, McDowell county, N.C. Born in 1800 in Rutherford county, he enlisted in the cause of Christ and became one of the pioneers who planted the Cross in this and adjacent counties. His successful labors of many decades and his exemplary Christian life have left their impress upon this region, which fondly cherishes his memory.
