    1. WILKINSON DEED
    2. Hello everyone, Today I found a deed of my Benjamin Wilkinson that had been indexed incorrectly. The signature was Benjamin White (indexed as Benjamin White), but the deed itself was for Benjamin Wilkinson. Deed Book32-33 page 274 November 30th 1820 No. 226 This indenture made this A. 1813 between Benjamin Wilkinson of the state of North Carolina, county of Rutherford of the one part and Jeremiah White of the same state and county aforesaid... 150 acres more or less lying & being in the county of Rutherford on the west side of First Broad River beginning at a white oak on the west bank of the river... Stake on Johnston's line, James White's corner.. Thence to the river at the mouth of the spring branch thence up the river with the various courses of the river to the beginning. Witnesses: Thomas Martin, John C. Boys Signed: Benjamin WHITE I THINK Johnston might be Daniel Johnston. Does anyone have any information on James White? The Wilkinsons were long time neighbors of the Whites (Peter, Isaac, Thomas). Also would like to know about John C. Boys (Is it Boice?). Benjamin Wilkinson's son Thomas had a land dispute with a Boys in the 1820s. Thanks, Melody

It appears that Benjamin White was selling the land to Benjamin Wilkinson, so if it was in the Index for Grantors, Benjamin White would be correct. In the Grantee Index it should be indexed under Benjamin Wilkinson. If I'm wrong, I'm Gone! G. Lee Hearl Authentic Appalachian Storyteller Abingdon, Va.
