Just needed to know about rules for pioneer articles for the new Moore Co., NC Heritage - 2005. We're presuming this will be like the Anson, Bladen, Rockingham, Scotland and Stanly County books; complete with pioneers and modern articles. We're pumped about the meeting next Thursday, but want to have some stories ready (for our incentive award). Can anyone help? Thanks, Connie ____________________________________________________________ Find what you are looking for with the Lycos Yellow Pages http://r.lycos.com/r/yp_emailfooter/http://yellowpages.lycos.com/default.asp?SRC=lycos10
Hi Connie: Glad to help on the Moore Co., NC project. As you know, all persons with Moore County roots are invited to submit a free family story & photo. Additionally, we have a pioneer section; If you your ancestor was in Moore County by or before 1840, you may submit another 500 words and photo, free. Response has been phenomenal! Inquiries are coming via phone and email from all over the Country. Our official consultant, Dr. Lloyd Bailey, of Duke University got us up and running last month, and now we get to roll up our sleeves and find bunches of family stories, along with churches and clubs for the book!. Moore County has been in dire need of a Heritage volume! Now the time has come! Our next meeting is Thursday, April 22, 6:30 PM at Sagebrush Steakhouse in Southern Pines. Hope you are within driving distance! There is an incentive award to those bringing family stories, clubs, church articles and photos to this important meeting. For general writing instructions, you may click on this website: http://home.earthlink.net/~srapa/index.htm. Even though the Cleveland Co., NC book has gone to press, there are many helpful hints. The official address for Moore County, NC Heritage - 2005 is PO Box 3151, Pinehurst, NC 28374. See you April 22nd!
