Dear List members, I'm new to this list after finding out I have early roots in Rutherford Co. I was wondering what type of land records are available online or off during the years after the Rev. War? I've been told my 5th great-grandfather, William Cornelius, and his wife Lettice, sold land in Rutherford Co. before moving to Greenville District, SC. He is listed in the 1790 Greenville, SC Census and served in the Cont. Line as a Matross from NC. Could some help me locate evidence of this, by doing a lookup in early NC Land record Books or abstracts of such books for any evidence of a Cornelius Family being granted, buying and/or selling land between the Rev. War and say 1820? Or at least guide to where online or off I can go to look for such verifications. I'd also be interested in knowing of any people named Cornelius or variations thereof that might be listed in early Rutherford Co. Marriage Books, Marriage Bonds or the like.
