    3. ----- am looking for information on Alex Bridges and Rebecca Cantrell Bridges... They were my g-g- grandparents. Alex was born around November 10, 1828. And he died on March 17, 1911. He is buried in Cherokee County. He was in the Confederate war. Rebecca was born March 1, 1829 and died Oct. 29, 1930. She lived to be over 100 years old. She was the daughter of Charlie Cantrell and Bettie Gauslin. There was a Nicholas Bridges who was in the same Unit -Holcombe Legion - in the war as Alex . Also, Nicholas and Alex was both listed ( in the History of Tryon County North Carolina) as arrested for actitivies in the KKK at the same time . Alex was sent to Albany, N.Y. on a steamship in 1872 to serve time for being in KKK. I had been told that Alex was a Grand Dragon in the KKK. by my grandmother. Could they have been brothers???? I know that Alex had a sister named Amanda Bridges who married a Lewis Henderson. Lewis and Amanda also lived in Cherokee County, S. C.! Lewis later married Grace Young. Does anyone know anything about these Bridges. Also, could Alex have been a nickname? The children of Alex and Rebecca were 1. M. L. (Marcus or Markey ) Bridges who married Julie Price. 2. Susan Bridges who married John Hammett 3. Mary Bridges who married Theo Bright. 4. Nancy Bridges who married Thomas Dickson (Richard ) Cobb .(my greatgrandparents) 5. Parthina Bridges who married Elish Scruggs. 6. Letha Bridges who marred George Jefferson (Jeff) Scruggs--brother of Elish Scruggs. 7. Billy Bridges who married Martha Price. Billy moved to Mississippi. Any help would be welcome. Thank you, Judy Carver
