    3. C. LAWSON MOORE Forest City, July 7.- Funeral services for C. LAWSON MOORE, 82, who died at the home of his son, GRADY MOORE , were held at Pleasant Grove Meth. church this afternoon with Rev. J.B. TABER JR., Rev. M.F. MOORES of F.City and Rev. J.F. MOSER of Kannapolis, former pastor of Pleasant Grove in charge. After eating a hearty breakfast Friday morning, he had retired to the porch. He was sitting in a chair and slumped forward, dying a few moments later. He was 45 years a member of the Pleasant Grove Meth. ch. MR. MOORE was a CONFEDERATE SOLDIER, a member of CAPT. J.L. EAVES Company of 17 year- old soldiers. He joined the company in 1864 at Camp Clingman, which was located on what is now the public square in Asheville. This company , along with the other companies of the Regiment, performed valient service until the close of the war. MR. MOORE is survived by six children; C.C. MOORE, MRS. SAM F. LA?K, MRS. ED GROSE, all of F. City; MRS. JULIUS McDONALD of near F. City, DR. G.R. MOORE, Chicago, and GRADY MOORE of F. City. His wife preceeded him to the grave 15 years ago and since that time he has made his home with his son . Two brothers and one sister also survive. They are A.C. MOORE F. City, KISTLER MOORE, Caroleen and MRS. DONA GROSE, Forest City. He is also survived by three half brothers and two half sisters. TRYON, N.C. July 7.- MRS. WALLACE WEBB of Kingston, N.C. niece of MRS. THOEDOSIA KENNEDY with her daughters, CAROLINA and ALISON, are to be the guest of MRS. KENNEDY for the summer. Another niece, MISS SARA LIPSCOMB of Gaffney, is here for several weeks. DR. E.E. BOMAR of Landrum has accepted the call of the First Bapt. Ch. of Tryon to become it's pastor. The Rev. H.J. DAVIS recently resigned from the Tryon church to return to his native state of Va. A bust of SIDNEY LANIER was recently placed in the niche of the mantel piece in the main room of the Lanier Library building. It is the gift of MISS TURNBULL of Baltimore, whose family were long time friends of the poet. The bust is the works of EPHRAIM KEYS, a Baltimore sculptor and it is set on a beautiful walnut stand carved with MR. LANIER'S name, the gift of MISS VANCE and MISS YALE of Tryon Toy Makers. MISS CAROLINE JERVEY with a party of friends on their way to Charleston last week ran off the road and damaged their car but was able to continue. HICKMAN-BAKER July 8.- the following announcement was received today; MRS. CARRIE HICKMAN announces the marriage of her daughter, MARTHA HUNTER to Rev. RICHARD THOMAS BAKER on Tuesday , July 3, 1928, Due West, S.C. At home after July 18, Rutherfordton, N.C. The groom is a prominent Pres. minister, being pastor of Brittain, Union Mills, and Duncan Creek Presbyterian churches. His marriage came as a surprise to many of his friends of the Carolinas. FOREST CITY, July 7.- MR. and MRS. CHARLIE BABER of Blacksburg, S.C. were the guest here Sunday of MR. and MRS.J.W. McDANIEL. M.E. DORSEY returned Friday from Mobile, Ala. MISS KATHERINE GOGGINS spent a few days , the guest of MR. and MRS. FRANK L. BYERS in Montreat. MISS MYRTLE HEMPHILL spent Sunday at her home in Bridgewater. PROF. A.C. FINCH left Monday to visit his parents in Pauline, S.C. Later on he will join his wife and baby at Gadsden, Ala. MR. and MRS. WESLEY NORRIS and son, spent the weekend here with MR. and MRS. T.R.PADGETT. MRS. J.E. SWITZER and children and MRS. W.P. HUDGINS and daughter of Laurens, S.C. spent Sunday here with J.E. SWITZER. MR. and MRS. J. FERRIS McMANUS of Columbia, S.C. are visiting MRS.
