Melody, My McAFEE ancestors left Rutherford Co. in the mid-1820s for GA, having won a gold mining claim in one of the GA Gold Lotteries (there were several in the 1820s). I've seen a book listing the various GA lottery winners at the Family History Library in Salt Lake, but it's probably available elsewhere. The McAFEEs were in Gwinnett Co., GA by the time of the 1830 Census. Might be worth a check if you don't find them in TN or KY.
