Hi to all, Anyone out there that may know about the Jacob Wolf on the 1800 Rutherford County Census? There was one male under 10, one male under 26, and one female between 16 and 26. My 3xgreatgrandparents were Jacob Wolfe b Nov 1, 1798 approx d Oct 11,1865 according to Grave Marker per the late Forest Wolfe of Shelby, NC, married to Nancey McEntire Thompson ( who was the Thompson?) (daughter of Andrew Aaron McEntire and Ellender Wallis?) b 1799, Married in Dec 24, 1825, d Jan 27, 1876, both buried at Old Hopewell Cemetery in Rutherford County, moved to Beulah Methodist Church cemetery in Cleveland County, by the Late Forest Wolfe. In 1855 Jacob Wolf obtained a Land Grant of 50 acres of land on the waters of Brushy Creek joining Rebecca McCurry and Land Speculation Tract. Survey shows 14 acres surveyed by J R Logan witness E A Shuford and J C Wolf c.c. (Not sure who this J C Wolf is) I have on paper that Jacob's father was Jacob Wolf also b unk died approx 1799 and married to Mary Polly Deadman b 1759 in Patapsco MD, moved with her family Thomas Deadman and Sarah Griffith to the Forks of Yadkin River in Old Rowan County, NC when their land was confiscated as they were Tories. Mary Polly Deadman was buried in Mocksville, Davie County, Deadman family Cemetary. Jacob ? of dying in WVA buried unk. I am looking to find that if he didn't die till after 1800, and the Jacob Wolf on the Rutherford County Census may be my Jacob Wolf, my 4xgreatgrandfather? Were the census's taken in the year they were suppose to be taken or would they have been taken in the year before? IE 1799 instead of 1800? This info came from a paper written by the late Forest Wolfe of Shelby, Cleveland County, NC In this paper the census of 1800 Rutherford County: Page 79: Henry Wolf with 2 boys 1 girl 1 wife page 143: Phillip Wolfe with 3 boys, 1 girl, 1 wife Rutherford County, NC marriage Bonds, page 343: Elizabeth Wolf married Wm Wright on 18 April, 1808 with John Foutch as Bondsman In the minutes of the Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions: 1810, October Term: Jonathan Wolf son of Jacob Wolf bound to Benjamin Hyder. 1811, Jan 19 Court required Elijah Fouch to deliver Jonathan Wolfe ( Child) to court for reassingment to Benjamin Hyder. 1811, April 8, Jonathan Wolfe, son of Jacob Wolfe, aged 13, bound to Benjamin Hyder until 21 years of age. 1811, April 14, In the case before the court at last court on motion of Jonathan fouch respecting the guardianship of Jonathan Wolfe the opinion of the court that the said Fouch is not subject for witnessing that was summoned on behalf of Elizabeth Wolfe on said notice. I have been unable to find anything on the first Jacob Wolf and wondered if anyone has this Jacob Wolf in their ancestry? Also can anyone tell me anything about the Jonathan Wolf who was Bound to first to Benjamin Hyder and then Elijah Fouch to deliver Jonathan Wolfe to Benjamin Hyder? He may be the John Wolfe I have a picture of him and his brother Wm Cathey Wolfe, my 2xgreatgrandfather married to Phoebe Lee, daughter of George B Lee and Pricilla Bridges daughter of Aaron Bridges and ? can't remember. The first recorded Wolfe's in Rutherford County, NC appear in the deed books when William Neil sold Henry Wolf a certain Bay Yearling and a negro wench ( not my words) named Nancy. Jan Court 1785. In this paper on 4 Nov, 1779 George Wolf had a land Grant of 200 acres on the North Pacolet River, which could be in present day North or SC ( Book 55 Rutherford County Deeds) in 1785 Page 168 George Wolfe of District 96 sold 200 acres to George Barkley of Rutherford County, NC on the North Pacolet River. In the Rev War Pension Application of Hannah Dedmon widow of Mark Dedmon, names grandchildren of Mark Dedmon. One child is listed as Jacob Wolf b 26 Dec 1794, different date as is on my 3xgreatgrandfathers tombstone, but not everything is the correct date I've found on a lot of things. If this is correct then his daughter Mary Polly Dedmon was mother of this Jacob Wolf, but she wasn't b till 1786 in Greenville County, SC, so highly unlikely. There was a Mary Polly Deadman who was sister to Mark Dedmon b in 1769 so she would be more in the age limit. If anyone has any answers to my many questions or how I may find out the answers please let me know. I am not able to travel to NC, live in Alabama, am disabled with MS but would gladly hire someone to help me if anyone is out there that has the knowledge of Rutherford and Cleveland Counties. I have much more info and many more questions I am looking for answers.
