    3. Obituaries Rutherfordton, Aug. 25.- Funeral services for JOHN C. McDANIEL, 90, merchant and farmer of the Bill's Creek section will be held at Bills Creek Church. Surviving are; his wife; 4 sons, WILLIAM and GORDON of the home, K.GRAHAM of Westwood, N.J. and WOODROW of Morganton; 4 daughters, MRS. WM. SEARCY and MRS. T.J. VICKERS of the Green Hill section, MRS. T.E. NELSON of Clio, S.C. and MRS. CARL FANSELOW of Dana; and one sister, MRS. W.C. DALTON of the home. ----- Rutherfordton, Aug. 18.- MRS. ADAM BLACK, 72 of near Rutherfordton, died at the hospital after a long illness. Funeral services will be held at Mt. Olive Bapt. Church. She is survived by her husband and one son, CHARLIE of the home. ----- Rutherfordton, Aug. 8.- ANDREW SHARP HILL, 76, of Chesnee, S.C. died unexpectedly Monday morning at his home. Surviving are 6 sons; JULIUS and JESSIE of Clifton, JIM and C.B. HILL of Sptbg. and LEO and MONROE HILL of near Chesnee; 3 daughters, MRS. CARRIE THOMAS of Chesnee, MRS. LILLIE MAE STEADMAN and MRS. MAGGIE PINE of Converse and a sister, MRS. WHIT LOWERY of Clifton. Funeral conducted at State Line Bapt. church. ----- MARRIAGE LICENSE recorded in Sptbg.Probate Court- Aug. 16. EMMETT G. GREENE , Mooresboro, N.C. and ELLEN GERTRUDE GREENE, Spindale, N.C. ----- LT. KENDRICK DIES IN KOREA; Second Lt. DAVID O'NEIL KENDRICK, 22 s/o MR. and MRS. D.H. KENDRICK of Mayo has been killed in the Korean war. Word of his death on July 24, was received by his wife, MRS. ESTELLE NORMAN KENDRICK of Henrietta, N.C. He was the first Spartanburg County man reported killed in action in the Korean fighting. DOYLE W. HAMMETT, s/o MR. and MRS. BOYD W. HAMMETT of Sptbg. , last week was reported missing in action since July 12. In addition to his parents and wife, he is survived by a daughter, Sherry. He had been overseas in Korea for about 2 weeks prior to his death. Lt. KENDRICK was the nephew of city Patrolman, E.L. TURNER. ----- Rutherfordton, Aug. 12.- JAMES ARTHUR CARPENTER, 47, of Henrietta died at the Rutherford Hospital after a brief illness. Funeral services will be conducted at Cliffside Bapt. church. Surviving are ; his wife ; mother, MRS. PINK CARPENTER of Rutherfordton; 2 bros., R.E. CARPENTER of Rutherfordton and CHARLES D. CARPENTER of Greenwood, S.C. and 3 sisters, MRS.
