1922 Landrum, June 27- A.C. BOONE, one of the oldest and most highly respected citizens of the community passed away quietly at the home of his daughter, MRS. T.F. THORNE, on Main St., Monday afternoon, the deceased had been in declining health for sometime. Had he lived until August 25th, he would have been 80 years old. Born in Rutherfordton county, he later moved to Mill Springs, where he spent most of his life. For he was a prominent merchant and farmer in his community. He took an active interest in school, in the Bapt. church and everything that was for the good of his town. He often aided the needy but never spoke of his acts of charity. He is survived by his wife, MRS. ANNA M. BOONE of Landrum; one son, B.T. BOONE, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; 2 daughters, MRS. T.F. THORNE, Landrum and MRS. E.J. SHANKLE, Livingston, Mont. For the past 6-7 years he spent part of his time in Fla. and part in Landrum. A.C. BOONE was a soldier in the War Between the States, being in Co. I, North Carolina Regiment. Funeral services were conducted from the residence of T.F. THORNE by Rev. J.A. HUNNICUTT and interment followed at the city cemetery. The pallbearers; W.C. SMITH, M.E. LINDSAY, J.R. MALLORY, R.P. WHITLOCK, B.F. OWENS, H.W. ACKERMAN. Grandson of Thomas Boone, sr & Elizabeth of old Burke and Yancey County, NC. G-grandson of Jonathan Boone & Susannah Nixon of Burke County. G-G-grandson of Israel Boone, son of Squire & Sarah Boone.
