I am trying to sort out the many Morris relations in NC and VA hoping to find a clue as to which group my William belongs . This is what I know about William Morris. William Morris Married Christianna(Christian) Simmons on May 2, 1793 in Amherst County VA. The marriage bond says William Morris of Bedford VA. Christianna is the daughter of James Simmons and Mary Waters. The Simmons family moved to Rutherford NC where James Simmons died at High Shoals. The Simmons family intermarried with several well known Rutherford surnames such as McKinney, Patterson, and Lewis. William and Christianna moved to Georgia before the first child was born , 1793-1794. The children of this couple are, Rhoda born abt 1793-94 in GA Martha Christian born abt.1797 in GA Elizabeth Wright born abt 1797 in GA John E. born Oct . 9,1800 in SC Henry Joseph born 1804 in SC William G born between 1805-1815 in GA Family tradition has it that William Morris was from Rutherford NC as well.
