It sounds like a newspaper. Check with Michael Greene at the Isothermal College. I tried to find a 1888 copy of the Banner. He had a few on microfiche but not the one I needed. He suggested "You might check with the Genealogical Society of Old Tryon County.   They are located in Forest City, NC. [828-248-4010] Hours are Wednesday-Friday  9-3 & the 1st & 3rd Saturdays of the month 1:30-4:30. Their library has local family information and could possibly have newspaper files."
