Greg-- I would not consider myself an expert, but I am also very curious about your hypothesis and possible conclusion. Maybe you can share a bit of it with us. I have lots of land records on my family line in Rutherford/Cleveland (Bradley) to analyze, and it's hard stuff to do, so as a learner, I'd be pleased to learn from what you've already proposed/imagined/conjectured.
