Carol: I have a few pieces I can add to your list of descendants you posted this morning. I am researching the Morgans, Wilkersons and numerous other related families in western NC. James Webb Morgan, the only son of Elijah Morgan and Rutha Wilkerson. Rutha died a few days after James was born. Elijah then married Susannah Reel in Nov. 1820 in Burke Co., NC and had several more children. The family lived in McDowell Co., NC after it was formed in 1842. James Webb Morgan b. 2 May 1820 - d. 28 June 1906 married Henrietta "Hattie" W. Briscoe (I know you have her name as Harriett), b. 8 October 1817 - d. 14 July 1902, d/o Philip and Nancy Barton Briscoe, on 9 December 1846, Rutherford Co., NC. Both James and Hattie are buried at Montford's Cove Baptist Church Cemetery in Rutherford Co., NC. children: Rutha "Ruthie" Jane Morgan b. 28 Sept. 1847 married Rev. Adin L. Rucker on 20 Sept. 1870. Philip Briscoe Morgan b. 12 March 1849 - d. 21 October 1885, married Mary E. Weaver on 9 November 1876. Nancy Melvina Morgan b. 11 February 1851, married G. W. Crawford on 16 March 1872. Morgan b. 9 February 1858 - d. 22 June 1908, married L. Logan Hampton. (nothing else known) Elijah Morgan b. abt. 1855 (nothing else known) Larance (from 1860 Rutherford census), probably not the correct name since the child is listed as a female of age 1 1/2 in 1860. (Nothing else known). Frances Morgan b. abt. 1860 ______________________________________________ Martha Jane Briscoe married William "Squire" Morgan on 17 May 1861 in Rutherford Co., NC. Martha Jane was William's 2nd wife. He had first been married to his 1st cousin Martha Morgan, who died 6 October 1854. William was born in 1811 to Jesse and Mary "Polly" Grant Morgan and the family had moved to the Hominy Valley (Candler) area of Buncombe Co., NC when he was a young child. William and James Webb Morgan were 1st cousins. I have no further information on William and Martha Jane Briscoe Morgan. ________________________________________ So many of these families are interrelated and appear in various western NC counties. The families, especially the Morgans, were very active in spreading the Baptist doctrine and establishing new churches throughout the Appalachian region (western NC, north GA., east TN.) and many followed Rev. Humphrey Posey in this missions work. Rev. Humphrey Posey and Rev. Permenter Morgan, the grandfather of James Webb Morgan and William Morgan were early Baptist ministers in Rutherford Co., NC, co-founding Bill's Creek Baptist Church in Rutherford Co., NC in 1785. I hope some of this information helps you in finding further descendants of the Briscoe family. Charmaine
