1864 continued... MT. PARAN CHURCH Capt. W.P. BRIDGES was killed, while gallantly leading his men on the 30th July, 1864. WM. P. BRIDGES, Captain Co. H, 18th S.C. Volunteers, Evans[ noe Elliots] Brigade. The deceased volunteered his service to his country on the 13th of April, 1860 and to the time of his death, performed the duties of the soldier faithfully, efficiently and gallantly, and as his last great offering, sacrificed his lief at the shrine of the country's alter. Capt. BRIDGES attaches himself to this Church in the year 1852, in the 17th year of his age, and to the time of his death, remained an orderly member of the same. In his death the Church has lost one of her brightest members. The community a good citizen and the Confederacy a gallant officer. Peace be to his ashes. William P.
