OK the vote is in. 32 in favor of full disclosure of the divorce records and 8 for just the names and dates. Those 8 gave some very good arguments for withholding the reason for the divorce but I said I would go with what ever the majority said. A word of caution before you check out the info. I did this abstract several years ago. Over half of the records have only the name and date and sometimes the date of marriage. I can't remember why. The next time I go to the Archives I will recheck these records and post any changes. ALSO - be aware that this was a civil case, not a criminal case. Most of the info came from an affidavit given by the person seeking the divorce. There was usually not a reply from the defendant. Just because the charge was made did not necessarily mean it was 100 percent true. One added benefit you will derive from these records is the date of marriage. There are 52 divorces listed. I only found 10 of these marriages recorded in the Henderson County marriage records. Some of the divorces gave the county where the marriage took place as well as the date of the marriage. Enough said. The records are posted. www.ksummers.com Please let me know if you find them useful. Kathy
