Thank you, Emma. I appreciate this information! It helps to understand what this person is doing. First of all, I am not the admin for this list. Am just a member like all of you. But... I believe this is what is happening. The original poster - tontobernstein - who started all this posted their original message to lots and lots and lots of lists. Their postings covered county lists in at least 5 states that I happen to know of just because of the lists that I am on. That is spamming the lists and that is against the guidelines. So their messages are being removed. (Sure hope I am explaining correctly). But, since you responded to that message, they are asking you if you want your message removed. I had that happen to me once on another list in a similar situation. As for the person who is going to create all sorts of fake lines, etc. That only hurts the users like you and me and others on the list. All the companies explain that they have no control over the accuracy of the data placed on those sites by people. So that will only hurt other searchers, especially folks who can't afford to subscribe to the various services or new people who are just learning the ropes. And.... in the case of list admins, etc. You can write the list admin of any rootsweb list by sending a message to listname-admin@rootsweb.com So you can write the admin for this list by sending a message to NCRuther-admin@rootsweb.com. So you might like to try contacting the admin that way. Hope all this helps a bit. I did not click on the confirmation line as I did not request that my comment be removed from the list. Does anyone know what this is all about? I certainly am not used to my fellow listers playing pranks on me or anyone else. Who is our host on this list? We need an answer! Hi everybody, Sorry about the delay in replying to this, I worked the evening shift and so I'm just seeing these messages about archival removal requests and unsubing - I do not know what is going on either, but let me investigate in the morning when I have had some sleep. I promise to get the whole story and let everyone know. FWIW, yesterday on my sewing machine collectors list which is sponsored by quiltropolis, several of them were getting messages that they had been unsubscribed too. Could this be a new internet attack of some kind? Emma's answer maybe the correct one ( the list does automatically try to weed out all the spam mail. You would blush if you saw some of the mail that bounces to me )but since I did not see the mail come thru on my other lists, gaston cty, rutherford, haywood or meriwether ga, then I'll have to check with other list admins.
