Dear Bill, Of course anyone who DOES anything productive gets static. It shouldn't be that way, but it is... Those who don't DO anything have no idea how difficult it is to be 100% correct all of the time. Because, they don't DO anything so they can't ever be wrong. Bill, you have the best website on the internet in my opinion. I have used it countless times and bless you for your hard work every time. 5% of the population can never be satisfied no matter what, so it is best just to ignore their static. The rest of us, myself included need to take the time to thank you more often!!! Abe Lincoln said it best, "you can please some of the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time but you can't please all of the people all of time". Please don't let the "dummies" wear you down, there are 95% of us out here who appreciate all you do. I for one love you warts and all. Love and Hugs, Iris F. On most of them at the start I have explained that there would be many errors and that I could not correct them because I would have to completely re-work that particular family and since I have went to the trouble to make an all name index so that books could be printed from it. Making changes would cause the index to become useless. Anyone that has done much of this type work can see how errors can be made with many people with the same name and the age about the same and maybe have a wife with the same name then sometimes you choose the wrong one. An error can also easily be made with cemetery records. As all that has ever put a bunch of info online knows you will get lots of "thank yous" and every error that you have made will eventually be pointed out and you get the "third degree" when you want change it. I have! a solution and that is to take all of this type information off my webpage. I have just got fed up enough to do this but I would like to know if it is really that helpful or not to leave it online and just take the static. Does anyone use any of this info? I do understand how everyone wants everything perfect. I do to but it is impossible. Let me hear a little feedback about this. Hi, Bill, You plainly say on the website that you realize there are mistakes and that you can't change every mistake that people point out. Personally, I think that your website is fantastic. As someone doing a lot of family research in that geographic area, I have used your website as a guide thousands of times. However, I have been to the cemeteries of my relatives/ancestors to look at the stones myself after that, and I have done my own research re: census, marriages, deaths, deeds, court records, wills, etc. You have been extremely generous not just with the free website but also to send jpg files of marriage licenses by email, not to mention your sharing the wealth with the Old Tryon Gen. Society with your CDs. Thanks for all you have done and do. My thought on this would be to keep your website as is and to ignore the ones who have the nerve to harass you. Iris is right---these people who do this are "dummies" and just plain rude.
