--GOLDEN VALLEY METHODIST CEMETERY-- Compiled and published by Mr. and Mrs. Judson Crow, Sr. This compilation of data from the grave markers at the Golden Valley Methodist Cemetery in Rutherford County, North Carolina provides an insight into the lives and times of the people that settled and developed the Golden Valley section of the First Broad River. The information covers the period from the earliest recorded burials in 1858 to the burials in 1998. Birth and death dates are transcribed from the grave markers and the days of the week for those dates have been calculated and included in this compilation. A statistical summary yields a condensed view of the data. Charts for the total births and deaths plotted against time characterize the life spans of the buried people. Noted events, such as the conspicuous absence of burials immediately following the War Between the States, should challenge the historian and family researcher to seek solutions to the enigmas of the arduous times of the Reconstruction period. All the proceeds from the sale of this information will be used for the maintenance of the Golden Valley Methodist Cemetery. --PRICE: $10.00 (+ $3.00 S&H) Books can be purchased from: Mr. Tom Melton-3550 NC Highway 226- Bostic, NC 28018 - 828-245-0853
Hi, I'm hoping that someone can help me. I'm currently researching information on Maggie Davis. She is my second great grandmother. She married J C (James) Hemphill in McDowell County North Carolina. At this point, I'm trying to confirm her father as being James Davis born about 1821 in North Carolina. In the 1850 census, he is listed as living in the Sandy Run area of Rutherford County being a wheelright. He later moved to McDowell County and can be found in McDowell County in both the 1860 and 1870 census. If anyone has information on the Davis family from Rutherford that moved to McDowell County between 1850 - 1860, I would greatly appreciate hearing from them. Warmest Regards, Anna

Betty, Do you know William Green's relationship to John? He was the bondsman on his marriage bond to Aletha. I'm researching the Robbins and Splawn families, and have the McKinney's in my database. I'd love to have more info on the descendants of John and Aletha. Thanks, Tamara berbet wrote: > John Green1797-1858 married Aletha McKinney 1819 and settled in the Piney Mountain section of Rutherford County . They had ten children; only two were girls. I have some information on all but have searched for more than thirty years for the parents of John Green. Any information greatly appreciated! > > Will gladly exchange. Betty berbet@nh.adelphia.net

Hi, all. These burials are listed on Bill Floyd's site as being in Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, Ellenboro: Lovelace, Violar O. October 29, 1911 July 7, 1994 Lovelace, Monroe M. December 17, 1908 January 15, 1982 Is anyone familiar with this couple? Might any of you know Violar's maiden name or Monroe's parents? There is another Monroe found dying in Augusta Co., VA, and we are trying to distinguish between the two. Thanks for any help.... Peace, Part of the Tree, Greg
I am researching the lankford family of Rutherford/Polk Conty in NC> My ggrandfather was John Walaker Lankford born in 1833 in one of these Counties. The Mormon records list it both ways. The ancesty records list William as his father. I have researched this is depth and do feel it to be accursate. Another Mormon record list Robert and Sybil Taylor lankford as parents. Their age is not right. I have looked in depth at census rolls and other data and the male son that fits in birthdate and county of birth is a son of Braxton Bragg lankford, a son of Robert. Ancestry, familytreebuilder, and rootsweb list his name as Walton. I am wondering if the writing in old records could have been misinterpreted and the nMe was Walker. Walker's wbts pension application with information from him cited 1833, Rutherford county as birth info. My ggrandfather, John Walker lankford was born in rutherford county NC (according to his civil War pension application). He was born in 1833. he married in 1855 in greene county Tenn. I have been searching for his parents for almost three yearsa. One ancestry record says his parents were William and Malinda. Another list Robert and Sybil Taylor Lankford. I feel that that they are too old, but that the family ties may be there. Could you check on 1840 and 1850 for me?the maiden name given for the mother, my gggrandmother with william was Gossett, but I think there was a mistake and the name was Gossett, the name of John Walker's mother -in law. ----- Original Message ----- From: <LJJJPWM@aol.com> To: <NCRUTHER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, June 22, 2001 9:41 PM Subject: [NCRUTHER-L] Re: NCRUTHER-D Digest V01 #72 > Hi List, > > I have the set of Census and Index CD's, all 56 of them and will > do free look ups for you till Sunday.
