Hi, Rutherford Co. cuzzins... These familes are driving me nuts! 1850 Rutherford Co., NC census, Sandy Run, p321: Dwelling #1299 Lewis Green age 50 Lucy age 41 (possibly the daughter of Benjamin and Nancy Lovelace) Elizabeth age 18 Nancy age 16 Sarah age 14 Mary age 12 William age 22 Dwelling #1300 Nancy Lovelace age 60 William age 16 Daniel age 17 Rebeca age 15 (another family, same dwelling) Elizabeth Green age 26 Louisa Green age 18 Benjamin Lovelace age 14 Mary Green age 5 Dwelling #1302 and #1303 are both families of Greens, and #1304 is the family of my gggrandparents William and Cyntha Lovelace. Keep in mind the Elizabeth and Mary Green found above in the household of Nancy Lovelace. 1860 Rutherford Co. census, Sandy Run, p. 279: Dwelling #46 Nancy Loveless age 70 Elizabeth age 36 Mary age 15 No Greens on the page, no other persons in the household. Note that Mary and Elizabeth are listed as Loveless. Now comes a family Bible from some Bowmans in SC, presented in 1978, with the father's genealogy filled in on a pedigree chart. This lineage includes a James Bridges who married Mary "Polly" Ann Lovelace. Mary Ann's parents are listed as Bettsey Lovelace and (no given name) Logan. A child of James and Mary Ann, in the husband's lineage, is Marcus Bridges. "The Hamrick Generations" by SC Jones lists Marcus Bridges' parents as James Bridges and Mary Logan. Now to the 1870 Rutherford Co. census, Logans Store, p120: Dwelling #154 Elizabeth Loveless age 44 Amos age 2 Elijah age 1/12 (Amos and Elijah are incorrectly listed as Loveless. They are, in fact, Amos and Elijah Bridges, children of James and Mary Ann Bridges, and grandchildren of Elizabeth) p123, Dwelling #203, is the household of my gggrandparents William and Cyntha Lovelace. p131, Dwelling #333 Sam Bridges age 24 Mary age 21 Smith age 3 Smith is listed in "The Hamrick Generations" as the son of Samuel and Mary Logan Bridges. Finally, the 1880 census... Household #83 Colfax Township Bridges, Samuel 35 Mary A. 34 bunches of children, whose names I cannot read Green, Elizabeth 58 Mother-in-law So Elizabeth and Mary are Greens in the 1850 census, Loveless in the 1860 census. Elizabeth is Loveless in the 1870 and Green in the 1880. Mary is listed as Logan in "The Hamrick Generations". Elizabeth is listed as Bettsey Lovelace in the Bowman Bible, and Mary is listed as Mary "Polly"Ann Lovelace, daughter of Bettsey Lovelace and an unnamed Logan man in the Bowman Bible. Does anyone have any clues as to why Elizabeth and Mary are listed above as Greens? And does anyone know anything about the Louisa Green that is listed in Elizabeth's family living with Nancy Lovelace in 1850? Thanks for any help any of you may offer.... Peace, Part of the Tree, Greg Lovelace

I am seeking any additional information that you can provide about the parents/siblings of Pleasant Webb. Thanks a million. ================================================================ Pleasant (Plesent) WEBB was born about ca 1760-1765. His son, Elias, said that his father, Pleasant was born in Ireland (not substantiated). He died between 1830 and 1840 in Ohio, USA. Around 1800 Pleasant and family came in to the Ohio valley from Rutherford County, North Carolina. In 1803 (reported to be 45 years old) he was in Scioto County, Ohio and was said to be a notorious character. Supposedly, he tried to break up a fight between James Bradley and the wife and children of James Quire (Squires). He ended up shooting Mr. Quire (Squires). After this incident at the Licks, he was driven out of that area. He is also said to have been a Tory during the Revolutionary War. Pleasant was in GreenupCounty, Kentucky in 1820 and in Lawrence County, Ohio in 1830, he did not appear in the 1840 census, so it is believed he died between 1830-1840. Pleasant (Plesent) WEBB and Unknown had the following children: James WEBB (1786), Elias WEBB (1788), Thomas Hanley WEBB (1795), Aden WEB! B (1797), Temperance WEBB (1799), William WEBB (1801), Margaret WEBB (1806), Sarah (Sally) WEBB (1809), and Baker WEBB (1811). Larry D. This is belated, from the Dallas Morning News, Dallas, TX. Helen was a Past President of the Dallas County Genealogical Society and wrote several books on the area of Rutherford County, NC. She was a wonderful person and will be missed. I first met her in the genealogy section of the Dallas Public Library in the early 1980s. We got to talking and I said ,"I have 6 weeks, I am going to look up my family history." Little did I know. Helen almost laughed out loud but went on to help me in many ways and times. Beverly Mitchell ------------------------------------------------------------ "Helen Mason Lu was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She served her country in the US Air Force in her younger years. She authored three books on genealogy and was well loved for her extraordinary sense of humor. She is survived by her husband, Dr. J. L. Lu, her daughter, Cindy Remington and two darling grandsons, Joshua, 9 and Caleb, 6. She had many loving friends. Helen went home to be with the Lord, Friday, May 15 after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM May 15, 2002, Grace Bible Church; 11305 Inwood Road, Dallas, TX. Internment with military honors to folow at 1:00PM in DFW National Cemetery in Grand Prairie. Visitation prior to service. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. We praise the Lord for her wonderful life that she shared with us for almost 65 years." Dallas Morning News.

Sandra, Go to GOOGLE .com and type in Greenville South Carolina. You will find extensive historical information on the area including your Paris ancestor. Pilot Mountain was named after him. Regards, Patricia
Does anyone have information on the Paris families in Rutherford County? Christian Paris m. Freeman Jones November 7, 1785. Also, does anyone have information on the Paris brother who founded Greenville, South Carolina? I seem to remember that he had a "second" wife and a "half-breed" son who gained some notoriety in the area. Any help? Sandra
