    3. Do you have marriage info for them? I have this for marriages in Rutherford Co and am looking for more with WEBB and HANEY. Bride: Drucilla Haney Groom: Sherrod A Webb Bond Date: 09 Feb 1854 County: Rutherford Record #: 01 324 Bondsman: John D Webb Witness: R L Gilkey, Clerk Bond #: 000136651 Barbara D Channell: Do you have earlier HANEY or WEBB involving these HANEY/WEBBS? I believe that my gr3-4grandmother was Nancy WEBB ,married Robert HANEY in marriage of 12/28/1821 in Rutherford Co marriages. I have a few unconnected HANEY and WEBB famlies! Would love to see if there is a connection and any possible family with earlier WEBBS and HANEYs! 1. [NCRUTHER-L] Griffins - Allens
    2. The Griffins I would like to find out more are James P. and Temperance (Turner) Griffin. They started in Polk County, NC and then moved to Cleveland County, NC around the same time as their daughter Ellen (Griffin) Dyer. She was married to my Granduncle Jonathan Dyer. As, for the Allen my Maternal Grandfather was Pascal Grant Allen. I can trace his father back to Hugh Allen in the 1700's. This was obtained from another researcher. My Grandfather was from Rutherford County. He is buried at the Roundhill Cemetery. His Father Joseph Allen is buried at Centennial Cemetery, Rutherford County, NC. His Grandfather William Allen is buried at Brittian Presbyterian Cemetery, Rutherford County, NC. If you are related I would love to share information. 1. [NCRUTHER-L] Henderson County Divorce Records
    2. Kathleen Summers
    3. OK the vote is in. 32 in favor of full disclosure of the divorce records and 8 for just the names and dates. Those 8 gave some very good arguments for withholding the reason for the divorce but I said I would go with what ever the majority said. A word of caution before you check out the info. I did this abstract several years ago. Over half of the records have only the name and date and sometimes the date of marriage. I can't remember why. The next time I go to the Archives I will recheck these records and post any changes. ALSO - be aware that this was a civil case, not a criminal case. Most of the info came from an affidavit given by the person seeking the divorce. There was usually not a reply from the defendant. Just because the charge was made did not necessarily mean it was 100 percent true. One added benefit you will derive from these records is the date of marriage. There are 52 divorces listed. I only found 10 of these marriages recorded in the Henderson County marriage records. Some of the divorces gave the county where the marriage took place as well as the date of the marriage. Enough said. The records are posted. www.ksummers.com Please let me know if you find them useful. Kathy

    3. Hi Listers, Sheila Platte was kind enough to transcribe the above named census, and allow me to place it on my website. Please take a look and let me know if you see any errors. She tried to type it the way it was written, so if it says Robins and you know it should be Robbins, we won't correct that. But if she read Gilliam and you KNOW it's Hilliard, well we'll have to look at that :) Here's the link to my website - http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~tamara/genie1.html Enjoy! Tamara

I found Nancy WEBB HANEY remarried in AL to a John Edmoundson/Edmundson, and on the 1860 Census she was with her new husband and age was 54. This would make her born abt 1805-06. If she married Robert HANEY she would have been abt 15-16 in 1821. Since the bond shows a JP who must have officiated, would that mean there was no church marriage or that she was underage and needed parental consent? Was Alfred WEBB related to her? Does anyone know if the marriage bonds contain ages of the bride and groom? Since Robert HANEY was born 7/30/1792, this would make him almost double her age in 1821 (age 29) if she were born 1805-6. Is this not unusual? Does anyone have info on Jonathan WEBB or Alfred WEBB in Rutherford CO? Any church, cemetery info in the area for WEBB names? Thank you. I did locate a Jonathan WEBB on the 1810 Census in Rutherford CO with a female under age 10. There was also a Nancy WEBB living alone, age bet 16-25. Just wonder how they tie together. 1. Re: [NCRUTHER-L] Lavender, Martin
    2. Betty, I don't know if any of this will help you are not. I don't know that much about the Lavenders but have a connecting David M. Lavender who married Mary Jane Noblett, 24 February 1847 in McDowell Co., NC. She was the daughter of Joseph and Priscilla Vaughn Noblett. Nonetheless, I have wondered if David M. Lavender was a brother to Thomas Lavender, who you are searching for info on. On the 1850 McDowell Co., NC census, page 257, household/family 38 is your Thomas Lavender family: 38/38 Thomas Lavender 39 M Farmer born NC can't read/write Sarah Lavender 22 F NC can't read/write David A. Lavender 5 M NC Eliza A. Lavender 3 F NC He lives one household away from one of my ancestors, Isaac A. Reel (#36) and his wife Elizabeth Allen Reel; next is James Green (#37) and his wife Narcissa; and (#39) Joseph Brown and his wife Mahala. From others living in that area it appears to be what is Montford Cove area. I have marriage bond date for Thomas Lavender and Sarah L. Baxter as 11 May 1845 in McDowell Co., NC, bondsman Jiles Harris. Married by John Ross, J. P. On page 283 B, household/family 411: Sarah Lavender 65 F born NC William Lavender 44 M Farmer NC can't read/write I have wondered if she is the widowed mother of Thomas and David M. Lavender. She lives next to these families: (#408) William Noblett and 2nd wife Elizabeth Goodson Noblett, (# 409) Martin (son of William) and Sarah ? Noblett; (#410) William B. Noblett (Dr.)(son of William) and his wife Adaline Ballew Noblett; (#412) Nancy Noblett and Sarah Noblett (unmarried sisters of William); (#413) Elizabeth Baxter age 45, who may be the widowed mother of Sarah Baxter Lavender, wife of Thomas. On page 284, household/family 420: David M. Lavender 30 M Farmer born S. Car Mary J. Lavender 17 F NC William A. Lavender 2 M NC Sarah P. Lavender 1 F NC He lives near these families: (#416) John Ross, Esq. and his wife Elizabeth Gilliam Ross - he is the J. P. who married Thomas Lavender and Sarah Baxter; (#417) Josiah Mann and wife Catherine; (#418) Noah and Sarah Gilliam Souther - Noah the son of (#418) Jesse and Jane Combs Souther (My ancestors), and (#421) William and Margaret Adaline Noblett (my ancestors). This group of families were living in the area of Crooked Creek/Sugar Hill. Most of the families living as the neighbors of the Lavenders and Baxter family were in Burke Co., NC prior to that area being taken to make McDowell Co., in 1842. I am not sure if the Lavenders are also on the earlier Burke Co., NC census or not. That David M. Lavender is listed as born in South Carolina, while the others are listed as NC sort of throws me but perhaps the family moved down the mountain for a while and then back into NC, or the census taker made a clerical mistake. I am very interested in the way all these families inter-relate and often intermarry over subsequent generations, so I collect data on most of these families. Hope this is useful to you in your research. Charmaine
