    3. Congratulations to all involved! You will be amazed at the results you will get by sharing with others. Those of us who have roots in OLD LINCOLN COUNTY have enjoyed the results of sharing. Often the results show up here because of what persons who left this area took with them when they went west to find more farming land. May God's blessings be with one and all. Pat C. 3. I am seeking any additional information that you can provide about the parents/siblings of Pleasant Webb. Thanks a million. ============================================================= Pleasant (Plesent) WEBB was born about ca 1760-1765. His son, Elias, said that his father, Pleasant was born in Ireland (not substantiated). He died between 1830 and 1840 in Ohio, USA. Around 1800 Pleasant and family came in to the Ohio valley from Rutherford County, North Carolina . In 1803 (reported to be 45 years old) he was at the Licks in Scioto County, Ohio. Pleasant was in GreenupCounty, Kentucky in 1820 and in Lawrence County, Ohio in 1830. He did not appear in the 1840 census, so it is believed he died between 1830-1840. Pleasant (Plesent) WEBB and Unknown had the following children: James WEBB (1786), Elias WEBB (1788), Thomas Hanley WEBB (1795), Aden WEBB (1797), Temperance WEBB (1799), William WEBB (1801), Margaret WEBB (1806), Sarah (Sally) WEBB (1809), and Baker WEBB (1811). Maybe others will be looking or have information on your >ancestors. OK, Debbie.... You asked for it <grin> I'm researching the Lovelace/Loveless and allieds, particularly Green, in Rutherford Co. According to family tradition, the Lovelaces who settled in Rutherford Co. trace back to Montgomery Co., Maryland. The 3 sons Nathan, Asa, and Benjamin are believed to have been sons of Barton and Lucy Watson Lovelace who married in 1778 in MD. Following Barton's disappearance in the 1780s (either by death, as related in the tradition, or by his flight west to avoid the law as has been suggested by recent research), Lucy Watson Lovelace is reported to have met and married Abraham Cantrell, who settled on the Pacolet River in Spartanburg Co., SC. Cantrell sold land in Rutherford Co. to Asa Lovelace in the early 1800s (and supposedly to Nathan Lovelace, too), and he was the bondsman for the marriage of Asa Lovelace to Susannah Hardin in 1806. My research has centered on several Lovelace families of the following generation (ostensibly sons of either Nathan or Benjamin, because Asa's descendants have been fairly well-researched) headed by men born in the early 1800s to the 1810s and for whom no parents have been documented. One of those men is my great-great-grandfather William Lovelace, b. c1815, who married Cyntha Hollifield in 1839. William and his children apparently lived in the area of Walls Baptist Church. I believe I have found his grave marker there, and many of his descendants are buried there. Also buried in Walls are James (b1818) and Sarah Tesseneer Lovelace and many of their descendants. <<<<THE FOLLOWING IS ALL SPECULATION>>> I believe that William and James were brothers. I also believe that they, and possibly others including Green Lovelace who married first Rebecca Moore and second Marty Nichols, were the sons of Benjamin Lovelace. According to the tradition, Benjamin is said to have stayed only briefly in Rutherford Co. before moving west into KY and possibly then up into Indiana. But I believe he actually remained in Rutherford Co. and died there sometime between 1844 (when he was listed as a founding member of Walls Church) and 1850, when a Nancy Lovelace, age 60, shows up as a head of household in the census. Based on church minutes from Sandy Run Church and Walls Church, I believe Nancy may have been a Green before marriage, and may have been the sister of Lewis Green, who is living with his wife Lucy beside Nancy and family in 1850. And to make things even more complicated, those church records deal with one Lucy Green, who was dismissed by Sandy Run Church for marrying a man (Lewis?) who was her uncle. If all assumptions are true, then Lucy Green was actually Lucy Lovelace, daughter of Nancy and Benjamin, and named after her paternal grandmother. So there you have the assertions. I am searching hard to find evidence to either confirm or refute these assertions, and that is the main focus of my research at present. Does anyone have any clues? 3. Hi, My g-g-grandfather was Richard Edward Allen, born abt 1785 in Wilkes County, NC. He married Anna Walker, 27 April 1814 in Rutherford County, NC. Richard's mother was Naomi Hall Adams Edwards. She was the wife of William Adams of Wilkes County, who died in 1783. And the wife of William Edwards, who died in Rutherford County in 1811. John Adams, who resided in lower Burke County in 1850 was a half brother to Richard. I think Anna Walker was a daughter of Jeremiah Walker & Catherine Street but have no proof. Richard & Anna Walker Allen moved to Haywood County about 1846. Would appreciate any info that would prove or disprove Anna as a daughter of Jeremiah Walker. Would also like any info on William Edwards, husband of Naomi. Was Naomi the mother of William's children? Thanks Sandra Allen Fender

    1. [NCRUTHER-L] S. M. Beam, Justice of the Peace, 1900s
    2. Greg Lovelace
    3. Hi, all From the marriage register of Rutherford Co. 1898-1909 I have the marriage record for my grandparents Joseph Baxter Lovelace and Arrie Wright. They were married 9 Mar 1902 by S. M. Beam, Justice of the Peace, at Beam's residence. The witnesses to the wedding were J. C. Bridges, R. J. Butler, and Joseph Beam. In my database I have brothers (according to the Hamrick website of JR McKinney) Samuel Monroe Beam and Solon M. Beam. Samuel Monroe Beam has a son Joseph Beam. So I'm wondering if anyone on this list knows whether Samuel Monroe Beam (1851-1938) was a Justice of the Peace in 1902. If so, he was probably the one who married my grandparents. My grandfather at this time was living somewhere in the Walls Church section west of Piney Mountain Road somewhere near the Hollis Road area. I don't know where S. M. Beam's residence was. Can anyone confirm that S. M. Beam, Justice of the Peace, was in fact Samuel Monroe Beam? Or could he have been Solon M. Beam, Samuel's brother? Thanks for any help. 1. [NCRUTHER-L] Yelvaton Neville
    2. I found Yelvaton Neville in the Revolutionary War Pensioner Census of 1840 for Middle TN. He was enumerated in Jackson County, District 4, age 76. I have no familial ties to the Nevilles, but see Yelvaton quite a bit while I have been indexing the court records of Rutherford County. When I ran across Yelvaton in TN, I felt like I had found an old friend. LOL! It is funny how as I am going through the court records I feel like I know these families. I even feel sad when I see that someone has died, even though it was 200 years ago that they did so. Just thought I'd share that. Melody

This is part of their Tench Coxe collection and includes a great deal of information on his Rutherford Land Speculation Company. Includes land which was early Burke and Rutherford, later included Buncombe, Polk, Henderson Counties, et. al.
