I am looking for any information on the McBrayer/McBrair/Brier family. I am a direct descendant of Ichabod McBrayer who was born in Rutherford Co, in 1780. My HARVELL/HARVILL - NANNEY ties in Rutherford Co go back to the late 1700s - early 1800s. My 2GGPs were William Richard Harvell (1824-1862) He married Sarah Nanney(Oct 6, 1827-Jan 4, 1863) May 28, 1848. I think Sarah was the daughter of Randel Nanney & Catherine Geer. According to the 1850 census they lived in adjacent households. William Richard's mother was a Susan Harvell. A John Nanny was the bondsman for William Richard Harvell & Sarah Nanney. My guess is that this John Nanny was the son of Shadrick Nanney & Polly Wheeler and was Sarah's Half-Uncle. More important perhaps, John's wife was Sarah Harvil, who I suspect was William Richard Harvell's sister. The plot thickens a bit w/the 1860 census. A 60 year old female named Susan is living in the John Nanny household. Susan may well have been the mother of Sarah Harvil Nanny (and my William Richard Harvell). Last but not least, I see that a Jepson Harvill(perhaps a brother of my William Richard & Sarah Harvil Nanny) married Martha Nanney, another daughter of Randel Nanney, on Sep 4, 1851. My Naney data goes back nye on forever; but I can't get my Harvell info back past Susan.. I suspect I'm a generation or so from connecting Susan(or her husband) to the south-side VA HARWELL/HARVELL(s) . HELP! Will be happy to share whatever info I have.
