    3. I am looking for any information on the McBrayer/McBrair/Brier family. I am a direct descendant of Ichabod McBrayer who was born in Rutherford Co, in 1780. He married there ca. 1800 to Mary ? and perhaps left NC for KY soon thereafter. Still other kin seemed to have remained (and still do today). Anything you may have will be appreciated. Bob Robert L. My proven ancestor among the bunch was Micajah, who may have been a brother to Caleb, Carlton, James and John. Some of these may have been cousins rather than brothers, and the father (or fathers) may have been named James, James William, or Caleb. Most of what I have on the family at that time comes from Rutherford Co. NC and Spartanburg Co. SC land records. Micajah married Elizabeth McCLURKIN, a sister to the Nancy and Hester McClurkin who married Robert and Zachariah WALDROP in Rutherford Co. 1. [NCRUTHER-L] Rutherford County Cousins (HARVELL/HARVILL - NANNEY)
    2. J. Lee Harvell
    3. My HARVELL/HARVILL - NANNEY ties in Rutherford Co go back to the late 1700s - early 1800s. My 2GGPs were William Richard Harvell (1824-1862) He married Sarah Nanney(Oct 6, 1827-Jan 4, 1863) May 28, 1848. I think Sarah was the daughter of Randel Nanney & Catherine Geer. According to the 1850 census they lived in adjacent households. William Richard's mother was a Susan Harvell. A John Nanny was the bondsman for William Richard Harvell & Sarah Nanney. My guess is that this John Nanny was the son of Shadrick Nanney & Polly Wheeler and was Sarah's Half-Uncle. More important perhaps, John's wife was Sarah Harvil, who I suspect was William Richard Harvell's sister. The plot thickens a bit w/the 1860 census. A 60 year old female named Susan is living in the John Nanny household. Susan may well have been the mother of Sarah Harvil Nanny (and my William Richard Harvell). Last but not least, I see that a Jepson Harvill(perhaps a brother of my William Richard & Sarah Harvil Nanny) married Martha Nanney, another daughter of Randel Nanney, on Sep 4, 1851. My Naney data goes back nye on forever; but I can't get my Harvell info back past Susan.. I suspect I'm a generation or so from connecting Susan(or her husband) to the south-side VA HARWELL/HARVELL(s) . HELP! Will be happy to share whatever info I have. 2. Susan Tilleman
    3. I am researching the following Rutherford Co., NC, families: I. CARLOCK/CARELOCK/CURLOCK/KERLOCK: 1. I am the list administrator of the CARLOCK mailing list and maintain a large database of CARLOCK information. I am researching any CARLOCKs (or alternative spellings) from anywhere, any time. 2. Henry CARLOCK/CARELOCK/CURLOCK/KERLOCK, probably s/o Frederick CARLOCK of Mecklenburg Co., NC. On 1790 census, Morgan District, Rutherford Co., NC. Received 1797 Rutherford Co., NC, land grant. Grantor with Joseph CARLOCK in deed to Robert WEAR, 1800, Rutherford Co., NC. Grantor in deeds to David PORTER, 1798, and Alexander MCENTIRE, 1803, Rutherford Co., NC. Henry may have been a direct ancestor, but was most likely an uncle to my direct ancestor, George W. CARLOCK, b. ca. 1779, NC, who m. Rachel LANDERS, listed below, in Warren Co., KY. Henry is also mentioned in Aug. 4, 1787, Mecklenburg Co., NC, court minutes, in which he was awarded money "for the orphans of Christopher Landess, deceased, viz Jacob, Felix and Elizabeth." I am a direct descendant of Christopher LANDESS through his son Henry, who was the father of the above-mentioned Rachel LANDERS, who is also listed below. 3. Joseph CARLOCK, grantor with Henry CARLOCK/CARELOCK/CURLOCK/KERLOCK in deed to Robert WEAR, 1800, Rutherford Co., NC. Joseph has not yet been positively identified, but was probably a son to Henry. Both Joseph and Henry migrated to the Powell River Valley of Campbell Co., TN, around the time of the above-mentioned deeds. II. HALEY: 1. Bathsheba HALEY, d/o William HALEY and Margaret (possibly CONNER), m. Zachariah HARRIS, ca. 1796, possibly Rutherford Co., NC. I am a direct descendant of Zachariah and Bathsheba. III. HARRIS: 1. Zachariah HARRIS, s/o Isaac HARRIS, m. Bathsheba HALEY, ca. 1796, possibly Rutherford Co., NC. I am a direct descendant of Zachariah and Bathsheba. 2. Wooten HARRIS, s/o Isaac HARRIS, and brother to Zachariah, probably lived in Rutherford Co., NC, as the following events relating to his children took place in Rutherford Co. I am also a direct descendant of Wooten and his wife Frances ADAMS. 2a. Martha "Patsy or Patty" HARRIS m. John ANGEL, Jan. 3, 1811, Rutherford Co., NC. John ANGEL b. 1786, Rutherford Co., NC. I am not otherwise researching the ANGEL family. 2b. Elisabeth "Betsy" HARRIS m. Andrew HALFORD, Jan. 15, 1812, Rutherford Co., NC. I am not otherwise researching the HALFORD family in NC, but some members of the HALFORD family did marry into my CARLOCK/CEARLOCK family in the Fayette Co., IL, area and are included in my large CARLOCK database. 2c. Frances "Frankie" HARRIS m. Jonathan Alexander COOK, Dec. 25, 1811, Tyron Co. (now Rutherford Co.), NC. I am not otherwise researching the COOK family. 2d. William B. HARRIS b. Aug. 26, 1798, Rutherford Co., NC. I am a direct descendant of William. 2e. Catherine HARRIS b. Nov. 6, 1800, Rutherford Co., NC. IV. HOYL: 1. Elizabeth March "Betsy" HOYL, d/o David HOYLE and Nancy PEELER, b. Mar. 13, 1815, Rutherford Co., NC. This is not my line, but Elizabeth and her descendants are included in the large CARLOCK database that I mentioned above because she married into the CARLOCK family. I am not otherwise researching the HOYL family. V. LANDERS: 1. Rachel LANDERS, d/o Henry LANDIS/LANDERS and Catherine "Katy" GOODNIGHT, b. 1783, Rutherford Co., NC. Rachel was my direct ancestor. 3. Larry, Was Elias Webb you mentioned married to Mary Ann Maynor? Did they have the following children: Matilda Caroline, William Henry, Lincinda Jane, George Washington, Susan, Mary, Julia Ann , E. B., Brittain Rice, Maranda, James, John and Elizabeth. If so I have information on Matilda Caroline, first married possibly to Hiram Robertson then to Pleasant William Patterson. Pleasant and Matilda were the great grandparents of my late husband. I will gladly exchange information with anyone who is interested in doing the same. Hazel
