    1. [NCRUTHER-L] Whiteside/Kelley
    2. Kathy and Flora, Have either of you seen the work on the Whitesides and Allied Families by Foster Clay Whiteside. I believe it is housed in the public library in Fort Worth, Texas. I have copies of a few of the pages that a kind sole sent me a few years back. Mr. Whiteside corresponded to many family members in the 1970s when he was working on his publication. Although I don't think it was actually made into a published book. Also, Shirley Brittain Cawyer wrote a book on James Brittain and Allied Familes which has some Whiteside information. And the Old Buncombe County Genealogy Society library in Asheville, NC has that book as well as some family information on the Whitesides. They may very well have Kelly/Kelley information as well. I believe the Rutherford County Genealogy Society also has the Cawyer book. If you come up with a connection of the Kelleys please, let me know as well. Connie Bradshaw

    3. Hello Kathy, I am a descendant of John Whiteside, Jr. and Eleanor Kelley. I would love to know what feedback you get on the Kelley family, and if anyone knows if those Kelley children were related. I have a lot of information on the Whiteside family, but nothing on the Kelly/Kelley family. I have never seen Eleanor listed anywhere as Mary Eleanor. Can you tell me where you found her name as Mary Eleanor please? Henry Kelly who married Mary Whiteside named his third daughter, Eleanor. I am betting those Kelly children were siblings, but can not prove it. 2. Tamara Stevens
    3. Hi listers, I'm looking for information on Henry and Mary Robbins McKinney's family (and Henry's family with second wife Nancy) especially concerning Sarah McKinney, their daughter. Internet postings indicate that Sarah was the wife of William Cole and I'm seeking any proof of that fact. Most of the trees I've seen have Sarah as the dtr of Henry and his second wife Nancy, but Mary Robbins' father William mentions his granddaughter Sarah McKinney in his will dated 1816, after Mary had passed away. Also trying to connect Andrew Jackson McKinney who married a dtr of William B. Cole and Sarah (possibly McKinney) named Elizabeth Isabella. For more info on these families, see my personal website at http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~tamara/genie1.html Thanks, Tamara tamara@bearsandhares.com

    1. [NCRUTHER-L] HARRIS and HALEY
    2. Susan Tilleman
    3. This is in reply to an e-mail I received from one of the subscribers to this list regarding my HALEY family. The subscriber asked the following: "Hi... there was a William Haley in Chatham Co. NC Is he yours? 1790 CHCC-Halley-William-2-3-5-0-0" At this point I do not yet have enough information to answer this question. Following is the information that I do have. An article titled "HARRIS", by Garda M. HODGSON, appeared in the "Bulletin of the Genealogical Society of Old Tryon Co., NC," Vol. X, #3 and #4, in 1982. I have photocopies of pages 112 through 122 of issue #3, and pages 170 through 177 of issue #4, but am missing the remaining pages of the article after page 177. I would be very much interested in getting a copy of the pages I am missing. I also have a copy of a related article titled "Harris and Related Families, Part I Harris Beginnings," by Garda M. HODGSON, which appeared in "Fayette Facts," the newsletter of the Fayette Co., IL, Genealogical Society, Vol. XI, #2, from around that same time period. As mentioned in my Jan. 28th posting, I am twice descended from this HARRIS family. Pages 170 of the above-mentioned article which appeared in the "Bulletin of the Genealogical Society of Old Tryon Co., NC," Vol. X, #4, also discusses my HALEY family. This page talks about my direct ancestor Zachariah HARRIS (b. ca. 1772) marrying "Basheba HALEY" by about 1796 or 1797, and living in Franklin Co., GA, next to several other HALEY families. It also talks about many of the HALEY families who lived near Zachariah moving to Tennessee at about the same time that Zachariah moved to Hickman Co., TN. At the time the article was written, the author had not yet identified the names of Bathsheba's parents. Page 170 of the same article talks about Zachariah HARRIS being listed next to the names James HALEY, William HALEY, Sr., and William HALEY, Jr., in the 1800, 1801, 1802, and 1803 tax digests for Franklin Co., GA, as well as Zachariah HARRIS, James HALEY, and Wiliam HALEY, Jr., participating in the 1805 Georgia Land Lottery. The following site includes a report titled "Ancestry of Dorothy Frances BRADFORD," by Dennis L. MANNES, which includes information about Bathsheba's ancestry: http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=dfbradford&id=I2293 According to that site, Bathsheba was the daughter of William HALEY (b. ca. 1757, VA); William was the son of Isham HALEY (b. ca. 1727) and Mary CLARK; Isham was the son of John HALEY (ca. 1695 - ca. 1760); John was the son of Joseph HAYLE (b. ca. 1660); Joseph was the son of Thomas HAYLY (b. ca. 1635); Thomas was the son of John HELY (b. ca. Apr., 1600, Rochdale, Lancashire, England); and John was the son of John HEALEY (b. ca. 1575, Rochdale, Lancashire, England). I have not yet done my own research to verify this information. Information about my HARRIS ancestors can be found at the following site. Within that report, see Generation 10, Person 524, Isaac HARRIS, and his eight children. I am descended from both Isaac's son Wooten and his son Zachariah. http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/t/i/l/Susan-E-Tilleman/GENE11-0018.html Sue Tilleman -----Original Message----- From: Susan Tilleman [mailto:STilleman@satx.rr.com] Sent: Wednesday, January 28, 2004 11:58 AM To: NCRUTHER-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [NCRUTHER-L] ANGEL, CARELOCK, CARLOCK, COOK, CURLOCK, HALEY, HALFORD, HARRIS, HOYL, KERLOCK, LANDERS, LANDESS, LANDIS, late 1700s and early 1800s I am researching the following Rutherford Co., NC, families: I. 1. [NCRUTHER-L] William Snider
    2. Tamara Stevens
    3. I just posted a document from the sale of Joseph Cole's estate in 1843 and was trying to figure out who all the buyers were. There is a listing for what looks like William Snider on there a few times. Does anyone know anything about him? Saw him in the 'neighborhood' in 1840 and 1850. Most of the buyers were Robbins, Splawns, Coles (of course) and spouses of same. Take a look here: http://homepages.rootsweb com/%7Etamara/Images/Tamara%20%234.jpg Thanks! Tamara

    1. [NCRUTHER-L] Rutherford Surnames
    2. DOREEN POOL
    3. I am researching the following Rutherford names: FREEMAN, DYCUS(DICAS), WALKER, COVINGTON I am particularly interested in determining the parents of Joel and Peter (b 1805) FREEMAN. Joel and family removed to Moultrie Co., IL in late 1820's along with his brother Peter and family. Peter remained in Moultrie Co., approx. two years and moved to Ripley/Oregon Cos., MO. These WALKERs migrated to Rutherford from Pittsylvania Co., VA. The COVINGTONs were from Essex, VA before Rutherford, possibly via Pittsylvania Co. Doreen Pool
