    3. Melanie, I don't have any further info about Jacob Wolf, but Nancy McEntire Wolf was a sister to my ancestor, Mary McEntire Washburn. The parents of Nancy & Mary were Aaron/Alexander McEntire & Ellinder (?). Ellinder Wallace/Wallis married Abner G. McEntire, son of Aaron/Alexander in 1839 (see marriages of Rutherford Co.). At first, this was confusing to me, with both spouses named Ellinder, and the marriage bond llisting Abner as "A.G." McEntire. However, Aaron/Alexander died 1827, and the marriage bond was 1839, so therefore Ellinder Wallace couldn't be Aaron's spouse. I have photocopies of Aaron's will and the above marriage bond...will be happy to share. Sylvia

    1. Looking For Info on a Jacob Wolf on 1800 Rutherford County Census
    2. Hi to all, Anyone out there that may know about the Jacob Wolf on the 1800 Rutherford County Census? There was one male under 10, one male under 26, and one female between 16 and 26. My 3xgreatgrandparents were Jacob Wolfe b Nov 1, 1798 approx d Oct 11,1865 according to Grave Marker per the late Forest Wolfe of Shelby, NC, married to Nancey McEntire Thompson ( who was the Thompson?) (daughter of Andrew Aaron McEntire and Ellender Wallis?) b 1799, Married in Dec 24, 1825, d Jan 27, 1876, both buried at Old Hopewell Cemetery in Rutherford County, moved to Beulah Methodist Church cemetery in Cleveland County, by the Late Forest Wolfe. In 1855 Jacob Wolf obtained a Land Grant of 50 acres of land on the waters of Brushy Creek joining Rebecca McCurry and Land Speculation Tract. Survey shows 14 acres surveyed by J R Logan witness E A Shuford and J C Wolf c.c. (Not sure who this J C Wolf is) I have on paper that Jacob's father was Jacob Wolf also b unk died approx 1799 and married to Mary Polly Deadman b 1759 in Patapsco MD, moved with her family Thomas Deadman and Sarah Griffith to the Forks of Yadkin River in Old Rowan County, NC when their land was confiscated as they were Tories. Mary Polly Deadman was buried in Mocksville, Davie County, Deadman family Cemetary. Jacob ? of dying in WVA buried unk. I am looking to find that if he didn't die till after 1800, and the Jacob Wolf on the Rutherford County Census may be my Jacob Wolf, my 4xgreatgrandfather? Were the census's taken in the year they were suppose to be taken or would they have been taken in the year before? IE 1799 instead of 1800? This info came from a paper written by the late Forest Wolfe of Shelby, Cleveland County, NC In this paper the census of 1800 Rutherford County: Page 79: Henry Wolf with 2 boys 1 girl 1 wife page 143: Phillip Wolfe with 3 boys, 1 girl, 1 wife Rutherford County, NC marriage Bonds, page 343: Elizabeth Wolf married Wm Wright on 18 April, 1808 with John Foutch as Bondsman In the minutes of the Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions: 1810, October Term: Jonathan Wolf son of Jacob Wolf bound to Benjamin Hyder. 1811, Jan 19 Court required Elijah Fouch to deliver Jonathan Wolfe ( Child) to court for reassingment to Benjamin Hyder. 1811, April 8, Jonathan Wolfe, son of Jacob Wolfe, aged 13, bound to Benjamin Hyder until 21 years of age. 1811, April 14, In the case before the court at last court on motion of Jonathan fouch respecting the guardianship of Jonathan Wolfe the opinion of the court that the said Fouch is not subject for witnessing that was summoned on behalf of Elizabeth Wolfe on said notice. I have been unable to find anything on the first Jacob Wolf and wondered if anyone has this Jacob Wolf in their ancestry? Also can anyone tell me anything about the Jonathan Wolf who was Bound to first to Benjamin Hyder and then Elijah Fouch to deliver Jonathan Wolfe to Benjamin Hyder? He may be the John Wolfe I have a picture of him and his brother Wm Cathey Wolfe, my 2xgreatgrandfather married to Phoebe Lee, daughter of George B Lee and Pricilla Bridges daughter of Aaron Bridges and ? can't remember. The first recorded Wolfe's in Rutherford County, NC appear in the deed books when William Neil sold Henry Wolf a certain Bay Yearling and a negro wench ( not my words) named Nancy. Jan Court 1785. In this paper on 4 Nov, 1779 George Wolf had a land Grant of 200 acres on the North Pacolet River, which could be in present day North or SC ( Book 55 Rutherford County Deeds) in 1785 Page 168 George Wolfe of District 96 sold 200 acres to George Barkley of Rutherford County, NC on the North Pacolet River. In the Rev War Pension Application of Hannah Dedmon widow of Mark Dedmon, names grandchildren of Mark Dedmon. One child is listed as Jacob Wolf b 26 Dec 1794, different date as is on my 3xgreatgrandfathers tombstone, but not everything is the correct date I've found on a lot of things. If this is correct then his daughter Mary Polly Dedmon was mother of this Jacob Wolf, but she wasn't b till 1786 in Greenville County, SC, so highly unlikely. There was a Mary Polly Deadman who was sister to Mark Dedmon b in 1769 so she would be more in the age limit. If anyone has any answers to my many questions or how I may find out the answers please let me know. I am not able to travel to NC, live in Alabama, am disabled with MS but would gladly hire someone to help me if anyone is out there that has the knowledge of Rutherford and Cleveland Counties. I have much more info and many more questions I am looking for answers. Thanks very much, Melanie Oates Malone I am researching: WOLF, WOLFE, DEADMAN, DEDMON, MCENTIRE, BAILEY, BRIDGES, LEE, LEIGH, LEA, GRIGG, FORTUNE, SUTTLE, BAXTER, SUMMEY, HOLLAND, CONDREY, WILLIAMS ON BOTH SIDES OF FAMILY, OATES, ROUSE

    3. 1]I use this source to look for place names: http://geonames.usgs.gov/index.html 2]Here is a list I put together for the Cleveland list a while back that traces the Cleveland Co. townships and census enumeration districts over the years. Maybe it will be of use to some of you on the Rutherford list: Listers, I am sure that many of you have had questions as to exactly where these townships are located. Regarding Cleveland Co. townships and what they included, here is what I have gleaned from censuses, newspapers, PO lists, and maps. Some of the names and areas changed over time too. In fact, names associated with the townships came from geographic features, post offices and sometimes old tax or militia districts named after the captain of the district in the past. If anyone has corrections or additions, please post!!! I have also included a website where one can see current locations of Cleveland areas and voter districts, and several historic map sites. Also, if you have access to the Kiser map from the 1880s, you can see the townships drawn in and see where many of the folks lived at the time----I have forgotten the exact date that this map was drawn, but it is great. No. 1--Camp Creek, "River"; 1880 Enumeration District 65; 1900 ED 48; 1910 ED 33; 1920 ED 48; 1930 ED 1. I've spent a bit of time lately going through census records looking for members of my Lovelace family and their descendants in Rutherford and Cleveland counties. I'm faced with the problem of having never lived in those counties, and I'm curious as to the townships I find in going through the census records. My folks were found in the Sandy Run District, in Colfax Twp., in Duncan's Creek Twp., in Logans Store Twp., and in several other areas throughout the census history. I'm curious to find if any of you know of a good resource, either hardcopy or software, either online or available elsewhere, which outlines the formations of the various districts and townships in Rutherford and Cleveland Co. through time. I have AniMap, which does an excellent job of showing changes in the boundaries of counties throughout the US. I could really use something of that sort to show me the different districts, townships, and post offices I keep finding. Anybody know of anything? Thanks in advance.... 3. Cleveland Co. NC Townships 1 and 2 are located in what was once Rutherford land. Township 1 rests on the SC border. Township 3 is further east and is on land which was half Rutherford and half Lincoln before Cleveland's formation in 1842. The very southern portion of Township 3 was also enumerated as part of old York Dist. SC for about 3 decades. There was great disagreement with where the actual borderline should be. This is my area of descent, unfortunately it is very difficult to gather information from all four counties and 2 states. Please contact me if you have ancestors from Township 3 or have information about any of the 1886 inhabitants listed below. 1. Changing townships thru time
    2. Greg Lovelace
    3. Hi, all... Peace, Part of the Tree, Greg --- [This E-mail scanned for viruses by Declude Virus]

    1. Website for new Moore County Heritage book
    2. Connie Heath
    3. Hello to all friends of Moore County! We have some exciting news to share; our new website it up and running (but still a work in progress)! Please click on: http://www.nccountyheritage.com/mooreco.html As we celebrate Memorial Day, our hearts swell with pride over the sacrifices that our fathers, uncles, brothers, neighbors and others have made. In our new book, Moore County Heritage - 2005, we will have a special chapter on our Military veterans. One photo and 100 words about each Moore County Veteran will be printed free (we prefer the photo to be "in uniform"). Combine these with the 500 word family articles and photos, and the 500 word pioneer stories & pictures, and we'll have a gold mine of information. Our next meeting is Thursday, June 17, at 6:30 PM. New location; Golden Corral, on Hwy 15-501 in Aberdeen. (Near Wal-Mart). Come and see what all the excitement is about! Proceeds benefit the Moore Co. Genealogical society and other Genealogical preservation projects in Moore County! ____________________________________________________________ Find what you are looking for with the Lycos Yellow Pages http://r.lycos.com/r/yp_emailfooter/http://yellowpages.lycos.com/default.asp?SRC=lycos10

    2. Rebecca Bannister
    3. My 3rd great-grandparents, Thomas E. Jefferson and Mary Frances Foster were married in Rutherford County on September 10, 1844. I have Thomas' family pretty well, but Mary Frances Foster is a big mystery. In Rutherford County, Polk District 1850 census, the next household over from Thomas and Mary Frances listed the following individuals: Elizabeth, 55 (bp VA) Mary, 35 (NC) Milly, 25 (NC) William, 16 (NC) David, 9 (NC) Milly, 4 (NC) Mary, 2 (NC) Emily, 1 (NC) If anyone is familiar with this family -- please contact me -- I think this could be a breakthrough for me if I know who this family was.

The newspapers did not belong to me they belonged to The Genealogical Society of Old Tryon County and we had photographed the newspapers and placed them on CD's for the Society to try to help with funding. There is a webpage on my website explaining how to obtain the CD's. Sorry for any inconvenience. Bill

    3. >>I have a Rutherford Land transaction that have two dates (1855 & 1838) can someone help me to understand, or find which date is correct......thanks phil << Both Dates are correct. This deed appears to be to settle an estate. If there were other heirs, you will probably find other deeds pertaining to the same property. They may have different dates also. The 1855 date is the date the deed was registered by the court. Many people bought land and waited years to register the deeds. G. Lee Hearl Authentic Appalachian Storyteller Abingdon, Va.
